Fun fact: I paid Leadified and Cone to reply to this thread.

I dunno. I really enjoyed the combat a lot. Eventually Ori gets stronger and even then launching enemies around and deflecting projectiles is very satisfying.
I also found the difficulty balnced enough and the temple escape sequences were a test of patience and super thrilling. To be fair though did not take me many tries to beat them.
Oh yeah, the locking is a little annoying. Couldn't go back to the second temple so I had to use a fix to transport me there.
As for the game locking you at the end, I don't like it, but IGN review warned me beforehand so I made sure to 100% before going to the fire temple.

I love this game.

I think that a simple warning before crossing points of no return would fix a lot.

Signature goes here!

Interesting review. I actually had no idea that this was a metroidvania style game, which is also one of my favorite genres. I seem to only really finish these kinds of games unfortunately because other genres tend to get too complicated.
Anyway, shining review. I'll get it on PC, if it's on PC.

It is. I played it on Steam.

Yeah.

For example, in the Forlorn Ruins, once you get to a certain point you can either head up or to the right. The game doesn't tell you whether the exit is in one area or another, so I assumed the finale would be at the very right (since at this point in the map we're already heading left ro right). That wasn't the case, and instead I got an autosave and a direct lead in to that temple exit sequence. And because of that autosave I couldn't load a previous save and explore the rest of the area.

Next time I suppose (and hope).

@Prof

Thank you my good sir! Metroidvanias are the bees knees, and Ori is certainly a quality entry into the genre. ^_^
