Forums - Gaming - The Witcher 3 Leaked on Torrent Sites; CD Projekt RED is Asking Pirates for Their Support

What a great way to send a message to people pirating the game. :) I hope at least the people who are pirating the game who can't afford it (not those who can but still do it because they're cheapskates) buy the actual game when there is some type of GOG discount or their fortunes change. I know many of my friends who pirated Skyrim and then bought the GOTY edition down the line, so hopefully the same happens with The Witcher 3. I'm sure this game will be a success regardless, and I like that the developer is at least happy - from an artistic perspective - that people who can't afford the game still get to enjoy it. Albeit he hopes that they eventually buy it when they can.

I hope he didn't just shoot himself in the foot by announcing the game for $32.
More disappointment when the real price is $54, while the pirate version is freely available...
It's $60 for PC in Canada and $70 PS4/XBox One btw.

I'll get the ps4 version although I'll be paying over twice as much as the developer just advertised it at...

Edit: It's $42.30 digital pre-order on GoG.com (normally $47), bit closer to $32

So there is no discount for pre-odering via digitally in Canada? In the US, it is $53.99 for both X1 and PS4 if you pre-order to download. Most games are $60 here  if bought at a store. If that is the case Canada is not getting a fair deal.

Hell,i could not develop a video game and have people pirate it and me keep cool about it. Screw that, they have nothing to gain by catering to thieves. If the game is a success on consoles they should consider releasing their next game on consoles and then release it on PC a year later..

This is why PC gamers cant have good shit.

Because

1. All PC gamers who pirate (the PC gamers with the least money) have consoles.

2. The number of people who don't buy the PC version a year later because of a delay will likely not match any console sales they might've received.

A sizable portion of pirates come from third world countries. Look at any piracy website and you'll see tons of broken English. In said countries consoles exceed the costs of budget gaming PC's two or even threefold. You won't see a huge translation in to console sales if the game is delayed.

Take Rockstar for example. They've waited years before releasing on pc.

They also had to improve the game for PC and pirates still affected sales.

That's one developer with goals beyond maximizing profits generated by releasing games. The rest don't follow suit.

Any Console owner given the option to download the game and play it for free will be tempted to do so. PC gamers who can't wait for their favourite games to be released on PC will buy it on consoles.

Ah, I don't think you understand how the PC gaming community works. This is really, really not how it works.

Yeah the grass quality was definitely improved, and they still maximized on profits on other platforms.

Because the pirates just didn't pirate the game on the 360 or PS3 (if they even had a console?) GTA V was not delayed on PC because of piracy. It was delayed to make it better.
