Have someone made a thread?

knowing NX threads would be created within hours, I didn't bother. But reading about this patent seems a good one.  Hopefully there are games that would be useful for that patent.  But again, this type of innovation is secondary for me and would prefer the normal controls

Yes, this is what I was thinking too..

Might be neat, but I like using normal controls most of the time

Well im the opposite to you guys. I love innovation + Multi function devices. That's why I was hooked to the gamepad when I first saw and heard of it.

Of course I dont buy the latest devices since they are expensive. But I just love hearing this "new" functions.

But of course options are the best thing that can happen. If Nintendo allows most or All of its games to play with a normal controller or the NEW controller then that would be awesome!

I would love Nintendo to always give gamers a choice to use a normal type of controller and the innovative type of controls.  It also helps gamers to have fun with new innovative ideas like what WiiMote have done, if they really just improved it properly on it and push AAA games like FPS games with it, that would be awesome.

Saw the different pictures in the patent and it seems a good guide on how would it work and what games would really be good with it.

Yeah! They kinda done that with the Wii U Gamepad and the Wii U Pro Controller.

Innovation is a good thing

But innovation can really hurt. Being different can make you do well and can alieniate yourself. We saw both of this with the Wii and Wii U. People complained that the Wii U didn't use it's unique features enough and when a game did, people complained that the controls are annoying etc.

In fact, if Nintendo makes a console similar to the PS4 or Xbox One, I can totally see people complaining that Nintendo is just copying etc. :p

What Nintendo needs right now is to be able to rebuild their userbase and get back their fans. It could work through innovation, but I feel that going simple is not a bad choice either

Yes to that as well! And there will always be people that will complain or disagree on anything. But yeah, the gamepad didn't caught back the people who love the motion controls on the Wii.

the only problem is Gamepad first and foremost than the Pro controller which i believe most gamers doesn't think is a great innovation.

My main problem with nintendo and their efforts to innovate is that they sacrifice the power of their hardware for the sake of innovating, which is one of the main reasons third party stay away from the system.

Innovation is not the main issue, like you said they need to work on their fanbase because they have been messing up with us with some questionable games to say the least

Yeah, even though I personnaly loved it. And I think someone or Nintendo themselves said that when the Wii U came out, the "Tablet" craze kinda died down. Im not sure about now, but im hearing lots of great stuff about Surface than iPads and Samsung Tablets.

Yes, is the problem that I'm worried.. since they add in some new feature in through innovation, they need to make it work well and have to sacrfice power for it. If the next console is less powerful than the PS4, then it would very troubling..

They also don't seem to get what the fans want with games :p
When they do it right, people like those games a lot but if not.. then D:
