So.. after a whole 2 hours of terrible disconnects and lagging out on my part, I finally reached champion rank. Would have been King/Queen by now but I couldn't because I couldn't get past 45sec through any game D:

Super annoyed so I won't even bother to try to rank up again :/

Glad to know there's someone I can share my pain with.

Edit: does this make me a bad person?

lol and no, it doesn't :p

Well, since I'm not going to play for the Splatfest anymore, I may as well give my impressions now.

It's really fun and I like the concept of having a festival/event where the hub changes and I really like the festive theme. Changes to the BGM is cool too so I really like the aspects put into this mode. The music during a match is different too and is a nice addition, though it would be better if they had at least one song to play for the entire Splatfest. Having 3 maps instead of 2 is nice, though it would be great if there was a rotation at some point. The ranking system works well, more or less, though it doesn't really seem to match you with the same rank against the opponents.

Being able to only play Turf Wars is not that great, but it's not too big of an issue. You can't join your friends either but match making isn't the greatest to begin with :p Only two colours are available with orange for cats and turqoise for dogs (not sure which for EU). Not my favourite colour scheme but it works and having the hub characters only with one of those two colours make a greater sense of rivalry. You are unable to change your shirt so it's a bit annoying if you have good skills stacked on your shirt. Also, according to the rules, you don't even get to keep your splatfest shirt :/

But with the team battles, it shows that a Clan system would work very well so hopefully in the August update, they could implement a Clan type system (sort of like Guns of Icarus and the like) in Splatoon as it could work out really well. It's unlikely, but I'm hopeful :p

My main issue with this Splatfest, if you haven't guessed by now, is the lag and connection issues. During the afternoon, I played for a bit and it was completely fine with only a few bumps, but that was only either before or after the match. Near the evening, I had huge lag issues and was constantly dropping out of the matches within 30 seconds of it starting. It was really fustrating and I was unable to rank up because of this and it basically made it unplayable.

But overall, it was very good, and if they can fix up peak hour connection issues, it would be even better.

RIP Fiora

Too soon man

Welp that's it then! Team Dog probably won simply cause they have more players based on what you guys were saying about having to face your own team, unless it only counts Dog vs Cat battles, which is how it better be!

Just reached Dog King rank in Splatoon and now I'm officially done with Splatfest.

Despite the unbearable disconnections, lag and horrible matchmaking that plagued the event, it made me realize one thing: Splatoon is a living and breathing game. It's a game that you can pick up one day, and your experience then will be completely different than another time. You can definitely tell that the Animal Crossing team worked on this, because the influence is clearly there with things rotating based on real time and there being in-game events. Splatfest, although not perfect in any way, was still enjoyable and made the game feel very alive (even more than before) and hopefully they just fix all the issues we had.

Go Team Dog!

And the event is over. Makes me so sad it ended quickly... : ( Well, it was fun, and I became a dog queen ; )

If Team Dogs wins I will forever regret having actually played that reverse match seriously. I was an undercover agent in their team, I should have done my job properly and destroy them.

It'll probably be close, but not enough to where one game will make a difference so you can rest easy!

They won't tell us how close it was, so I'll always have that thought looming in my head.

They'll give us the percentage like they did for the Japanese Splatfest.

Well Team Dog is the winner. They took the popularity vote. But some how Team Cat won 51% of their matches, but since both are based on a % system, when it was all tallied up, Team Dog ended up with the higher overall score and took Splatfest. If I knew so many people were going to pick Dog, I would have went cat myself. Just for the wealth of enemies to fight.

Whatdya mean somehow? I was on Team Cat remember?

It's good that the win part is worth more than popularity, but I think winning should be all that matters. Dogs only won simply because they had more players, not because they were better than us.

Splatfest is garbage.
Turf War only.
Three maps only.
Lags and disconnection errors.
Team Pop can barely unite up, need to wait 2-3 minutes till battle start.

At least night theme, colors and music are decent.
