Yes, the first one.
Mash attack and Batman goes on an endless string of random punches, elbows and kicks jumping from enemy to enemy. So you have little to no control over who is Batman attacking or which melee moves is he using. Eventually one of the bad guys will get bored of getting his ass kicked and will try to attack, then you have to press the counter button when Batman's spider-sense (?) warns you. And it seems that's pretty much all that's needed to win any non-boss fight unharmed.
In the Wii game you have more control over your character, more combat options and it has local co-op, but the Arkham games are 3D, darker, look closer to the newer movies, have higher production values, a bigger marketing push and Harley Queen acts and looks like a KyleeStrutt in them so they're the good ones.
