| spemanig said: It crazy how an animated short can look that good without having the good sense to make Corneria look like a real city. That being said, let's hope the next Star Fox looks like this. And isn't a disapointing re-retread of a 15+ year old relic of a game and scenario with mandatory divisive controls that unecessarily cut the presentation in half. Also, why is this only a short? Nintendo should be focusing on longstanding series, not shorts. Also also, the animation of the Star Fox members while they're running is really shitty. In fact, all of the animation in that teaser was extremely slide show. I mean, yeesh IG. You're better than that. |
Well, it's a short based on the game, so I think that they'll use the game's locations. And Corneria is not really a city in Zero. About the game, I'll make a solid opinion when I play it. If the controls work for me, I don't think I'll have any problem with it. But I want to try them first. I made the mistake of bashing the Splatoon controls before it releases, and now I can't play Splatoon without motion controls, diminishing my performance drastically! I'm open-minded about them in the mean time :P.
And I'd really like Nintendo to make full series of their more knows IPs. Maybe Starfox is not the best franchise for a start, but they have really strong IPs to make some high-quality shows. I'm not saying that a Starfox show won't be great, I'd love to see that, but I'm talking about a strong and widespread start. So IPs like Mario, Zelda... are more fitting. Then they can expand their shows to another franchises. Maybe this would be the start of a Nintendo animation platform in YT? And, yeah, I think that they'll focus on that in the future too. Character animation in the teaser is... weird. I get that it's a concious decision, but that's exactly what I dislike more about the teaser. Let's see the final product though.

I am going to buy it over Fire Emblem Fates. ...said no one ever. You are right, the game looks absolutely terrible. That kind of quality should be a $5 eShop game at best. Not that that would make it worthy of a purchase, but at least the publisher could be respected as being somewhat reasonable. |
Dammit Rol, you scared me for a moment. XD
The worst part of this is the fact that the game uses an IP that, from what I've heard, used to be actually good, or at least decent (there were kind of the substitute of Fire Emblem on Sega systems). So why not just port the older games, wouldn't have that been more profitable?

This is going to get such a beating from the critics. What do you think its metascore is going to be, below 30 or below 20?

It's just like how a lot of third parties roll. You are right that they could bring compilations of older games to Nintendo systems (especially if those games never appeared on Nintendo systems before), but they seem to prefer to make a crappy new game, watch it flop, declare that the Nintendo audience isn't interested in the IP and then go back to make games for non-Nintendo systems again. Naturally, they aren't going to port the Nintendo-exclusive trash to other platforms, because they very well know how bad the game is. |
I think there has to be some sort of scam the likes of "The Producers" going on here. This is being localized by the same people that brought the Zero Escape series to the West (Aksys Games), but this doesn't seem like the kind of niche game that is so good it will compensate its translation. This smells fishy.

Definitely, though my guess is in the 30-40s range

I didn't know about that game but, man, the battle animations are hilariously bad. Well, and the rest of it.
| RolStoppable said: In Fast Racing Neo's Kamagori City and Sendai Outpost, are there hidden shortcuts or alternate routes that are preferable? These two tracks are unusually hard in time attack. |
Not that I know in Kamagori City, though in Sendai Outpost there are two paths in the first jump you make on the track. I'm not sure which one is the shortest path since I didn't play time attack, but you can jump to the right instead of going forward. That's the only thing I remember being different...
Not related, but I was all night playing Fatal Frame V. This game really gets on my nerves, even knowing what's going to happen (this is my 2nd playthrough). The atmosphere and creepiness of the game are really good. It has some obvious flaws, and I really understand the criticisms, but it's exactly what I wanted when I bought it. Using the Gamepad as the camera is inmersive and adds to the tension.

Ew, none of this is true at all. SF64 has aged terribly, especially in its gameplay. |
I honestly can't think of much that I would update about its gameplay.
