Forums - Nintendo - Rumor: Paper Mario U currently in development according to Intelligent Systems!

Paper Mario was a classic, The-Thousand-Year-Door was the greatest, Super Paper Mario was fantastic, but Sticker Star just didn't have the caliber to match it.

Let us hope this rumor is true. I am desperate for a new game to play on the Wii U. Just give me Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, and Fire Emblem on the Wii U and I am happy.

It wasnt a RPG for one.

No seriously, some people probably liked it, but it was far from being "greatness", which older paper mario games where.

Why so much hate for Super Paper Mario? I can understand the resentment towards Sticker Star, but SPM was one of the best games I've ever played. :/ (and I've played TTYD too, but SPM wins by a sizeable margin.)

I'd say that one of my complaints was with the hub world (just pulling one out of a hat because there are so many). It was needlessly big and extremely unintuitive, leading to long stretches of time just wandering around aimlessly, and whenever I came back to the game after not playing for a while, I had no idea where to go. The perspective flipping mechanic just made everything more annoying to do and made wandering around town a real pain. That whole base idea just didn't work most of the time.

Then there are the problems with all of the abilities you gain being extremely boring, the boring "combat" and minute to minute gameplay, the dragged out nature of everything etc..

I would take a new Paper Mario (N64) any day over that. Needless to say, I didn't like Super Paper Mario @.@

hmm really? I thought the hub world was alright for the most part. Sure there were some parts that you got lost in, but ttyd also had that share of problem too and I didn't stay stuck too long anyways. The perspective mechanic was really creative and fun imo and my only real complaint about it is the stupid timer. Most of the time i'd just sacrifice a health because I didn't have patience.

I also thought the abilities and characters were very creative and decently-used for the most part too and combat wasn't too bad for me either. Oh well, each to their own opinion.
