To retread what I said earlier, the game wont be fully complete until August eitherway (release with frequent updates or delay it). They are asking for your money now but you don't have to give it to them until you want to. It's for those that want to play the game asap, much like myself.
The most important aspect of a game, being the gameplay, is fully intact. If reviewers prioritize content over what makes said content relevant in the first place then they fail at reviewing and should be disregarded completely.

Content is part of the package a very important part, and the lack of it will hurt the ratings (how much will depend on each reviewer), if you have a good gameplay but very little variety the score will reflect it because the game becomes repetitive or boring very fast and that is a HUGE problem in a game. It is too early to tell but it is clear that a more robust package on day 1 will increase the value of the product and improve the review scores. I think is good that they have plans to support the game after launch, but it feels like some of that support should be in the product in the first place, when others companies do it I don't like it, and when Nintendo does it, I also don't like it.
