Forums - Gaming - Media Create Sales: Week 18, 2015 (Apr 27 - May 3)

Last year, The Ps boost died the 2nd half of golden week and nintendo consoles remained on par/ increased until the week after where everything dropped again. I'm gonna hope this holds true for this year as well. Wii U holding at near 20k would be very good.

So is this the last week where the Wii U will outsell the PS4 in Japan?

Xenoblade did alright. Not very good, but certainly not bad. The increased hype and better word of mouth seems to have evened out with the userbase disadvantage.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Don't understand people saying WiiU naysayers... First I don't recall (much) people saying there were going to be way higher hardware sales than those (at least from what I've read). 20k is a pretty decent amount seriously, at this day and age for the home console market in Japan... I mean it sold almost 4 times what was sold the usual average for Japan (5-6k around that).

Let me put it this way, if WiiU didn't do good in Japan and it sold better than PS4, comparatively to US and EUR where even when XCX is released it will sell 5 times less than PS4, how well is it doing in the rest of the world?

If what happened in Japan last year happens again this year then ps4 will see a heavy drop in the next charts and Wii U and 3DS will be the same/small drop. The week after everything will drop again. So it should outsell it next week. I'm also thinking that it wont be as one sided as others think.

Wii U > PS4 for another 20/30 week by now.

With digital it could certainly be possible that Xenoblade X is above 100k. That is a significant advantage over the first Xenoblade, in that case. On a vastly smaller user-base and in an age in which Japanese gamers are playing mobile and handhelds, this is pretty good. Not excellent, but pretty good. It will be interesting to see what the legs of Xenoblade X will be like. I can see it doing something like 25k -> 15k-> 10k-> 5k -> 1-2k for the rest of the year, to end somewhere around 160k-200k lt without digital sales.

Noooo Operation Babel bombed on Media Create too.

Vita better though.

What's that?

Oh and 21~22k for WiiU, not bad, right Boutros? :D

I'd say that P&D Super Flop Edition is dissapointed, but COMG hinted that long time ago, so, yeah. Might show some legs tho.

Now, I wasn't expecting that drop for Bravely, LTD might be lower than the first one :/

This week really tells us so much about the Wii U in Japan.

What were people expecting?

More, a lot of people were extremely sure that XCX would do over 100k.

But I'm also talking about hardware, in march the PS4 had several weeks above 40k and was always above 30k thanks to game releases, showing that the main thing missing for the system is the software support. This week is Golden week, the Wii U had 2 relatively big releases, one exclusive that came with a bundle, and the system can barely scratch past 20k and can only barely outdo the PS4, that's just really telling imo.

Well I recall materia Blade expecting at least 150k FW for Xenoblade.

But I'm not sure what kind of hardware numbers people were expecting. WiiU was down at around 6k usually, so 21k seems like a reasonable boost I think.

Materia Blade (zero999) don't count. :P

Personally, my prediction was 120,000, but i never was "sure" as Dernabel say... i say that was possible even under 80,000.

Well I think it's kinda unfair to use the prediction of the worst Nintendo predictor that we've had on this site as a representation for the general XCX prediction range, what I've seen was most people saying it would beat 100k for sure though.
