This is a really bad way to put it. Between getting a Wii U or 25 amiibo, I think most people would go for the console. |
It depends. You could trade 3 Gold Mario for a Wii U and keep 22 amiibos... XD
Sorry, just joking.

I can't help but wonder about the average buy rate per owner and how many unique owners we have. What kind of tie-ratio are we looking at? Did Nintendo have the foresight to allow them to track Amiibo usage? Wait, can Nintendo track unique accounts across different games and platforms?
I'd also like to know the sold-through numbers. If my local Walmart is any indication, stores carry a lot of stock. There are probably about 15 "Mario" on the shelves, alone, and maybe 40 or 50 in total. Supply has to be well over 1 million, perhaps closer to 2 million.
Actually, how are the evergreen figures selling compared to new and limited-production figures? How many "Mario" have you sold-through? How many Shulk? How many Captain Ahab? What are the current sales rates of each unique release?
Clumping everything together in a single number is kind of annoying.
Also, does anyone else wonder about the future of Amiibo when they run out of characters? Will they just release new "waves" of the same characters in different poses? Mario in Gravure Idol poses? Maybe some dark Batman style poses? Or, perhaps better for Nintendo fans, will Amiibo force Nintendo to develop new IP so that they have more characters to pimp?

I would think this would garantee some Amiibo hub game. With these sales, they would be a given, not?
Not so, nintendo $_*?
In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.
It's pretty easy to see why they're so successful. Inexpensive, addicting RPG aspects with games like Smash, and the innate desire to collect the characters you like.

Just imagine this number if nintendo actually shipped the rare ones to retailers! (manufacturing more)
This number could easily triple. Out of all the Current SSB Line, about 50% of them are rare >_>

YEAH BABY!!!! I have 6 right now! And i could easily got tonnes more since i saw meta knight, sonic, charizard, Link, Zelda, Marth and Ike Last week in JB HI FI! ( Australia ) Didnt know they stocked them =(
Pocky Lover Boy!

I will not fall on their evil web! ... well... that Yoshi amiibo... Ok I´m in U_u
