Forums - Gaming - Yooka Laylee Kickstarter is Live Now and Reached All Goals in 24 Hours (Banjo-Kazooie Spiritual Successor)

I'm skeptical with Kickstarters in general, the only game I've backed was 'A Hat in Time' and that was freaking 2 years ago...the devs at least give updates from time to time on their twitter account but man I'm scare that thing will never come out...

I personally believe that when a game gets too popular on Kickstarter, the devs have way too much pressure on their hands, so the game could get delayed and delayed and delayed until who knows what happens.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but has their been a truly successful Kickstarter game? Never paid to much attention to Mighty No. 9 so that could be one (but that hasn't released yet right? is there an official release date?), the other I can think of was that one from Double Fine (can't remember the name), but Part 2 hasn't even been released...and I think Double Fine said the expectations were too high and the game suffered from that, that's what I remember at least.

MIghty No. 9 was scheduled for a spring 2015 release, but since they've partnered with an actual publisher now they're going to have a physical release and delayed it to September.

Pillars of Eternity, Shovel Knight and Divinity: Original Sin are good examples.

Never heard of Pillars of Eternity.

I forgot about Shovel Knight, which is a good example.

Didn't know Divinity was a kickstarter game, haven't played it but I've seen plenty of videos and it looks really solid (minus complains about bugs), and the general reception was good.

Sadly, more often than not I think Kickstarters are more failures than successes. I don't think I will fund this, but if the game ends up coming out and it looks good, I will gladly pay for it.

Pillars of Eternity has 90% on metacritic and collected over $3 milllion on kickstarter.

A lot of kickstarters fail because they're being made by people who are new to the industry and have no experience. Trust me, these guys have a TON of experience.

Oh man, already looking great!

I know this isn't final but it's way to floaty for me to heavily invest in like Eternity or Skull Girls. $24 pledged.
