They really did fuck themselves with the last four chapters of Bravely Default. Probably soured a lot of people.

Given the PS4/PSV combined install base is less than the Wii U/ 3DS combined install base there doesn't seem to be much logic in calling for games that are on Nintendo platforms to become Sony exclusives. However I do think there is some logic in calling for underperforming games on Nintendo platforms to become multiplatform and include Sony platforms without abandoning Nintendo platforms. Japan is the one place where it makes sense to make Nintendo/Sony multiplatform games. The only problem is the major difference in hardware, particularly in the home consoles. Developers will either gimp on the use of the gamepad, or they will gimp on making use of PS4's superior specs. Or they will gimp on both. |
I actually agree especially in Japan. Many games could see Multiplat versions between Sony+Nintedo platforms. MH would benefit fromthis.
Its just that i dont agree with him because he thinks almost all games should be on Sony platforms exclusively. But i wont get into that, no need to... *Hides before Rol Enters

It's been proven with the likes of NMH and the Tales of games that 3rd parties sell better on PS consoles. Even Bayonetta.

Listen, this has nothing to do with what we are talking about. As for Bayo, i really disagree. I doubt if it were on PS4 it would of done that much better.

Honestly, if Bravely came onto any other platform, it would likely be mobile. The whole Norende sidequest seemed like something straight out of a mobile civ-simulator. That, and the fact the game relied more on an attractive artstyle than actually trying to look impressive graphically, makes me think the frachise would probably be aimed at that crowd over one that expects a substantial technical improvement.
Not that I'd want that, mind; mobile gaming isn't something that even remotely appeals to me.
OT: Was hoping Bravely would do better, I wonder what the Japanese audience thought of the last few chapters of the first game. My friend and I got Default at the same time, and now she has zero interest in the sequel. I'll probably get it...though I really hope they skip the boss gauntlet this time around.

It's also the only RPG they've released this generation. Unless you count Final Fantasy: Record Keeper, which is definitely better. |
Cellphone generations are different from Console generations.

Bet with Xander XT:
I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Who cares about Mega Man, especially considering the games you chose came out 18+ years ago.
Revelations was not only a late port on PS3 but also a multiplatform release.
You can thank the rise in popularity of Persona for SMT's success/ awareness. Before Persona 3 I had no clue what SMT was but now that I played the Persona games I bought SMT IV since it was by the same company that made Persona.
Remasters almost never sell more than the original so this comparison proves nothing.
Considering the DS userbase in Japan (where this games target audience is) was about 10 million users larger than the PS2's I'd say this is a draw. P.S. Last time I checked, Bayonetta 2 is only 7 months old. |
Not saying I agree with with the other people but you comparisons are very poor.
Really nice to see that the PS4 got a boost.
Bravely Second numbers weren't that bad after all, better than I expected.

As were the comparisons he gave. Reasons for which games sell/don't sell typically don't matter to Lawlight, only the cold hard numbers. So that's what I gave him.
I think the statement to begin with was ridiculous. In Japan, whichever console a third party game is on doesn't really matter because the game is going to sell regardless. The differences in the end are insignificant.
