Ignoring the exact game and backstory in question, I would not donate anything initially. However, as I played and enjoyed this amazing mod, I would start to donate money. I could easily imagine donating a total of around $30, roughly the price of an expansion pack or big piece of DLC, if his work really was worth a lot to me. However, this would likely be in smaller chunks over time rather than an up-front price.

I would donate 5-20 bucks based solely on how much I liked the mod. I don't have compassion or feel bad for someone who said creating a mod ruined their life or caused them losses or anything like that. That makes me think the person is an idiot if they got themself into that situation. That is hardly any kind of dire straits.

Most of my donations these days are for Gaza and Syria relief.

Frankly I wouldn't donate diddly squat to this guy.

I donated $400 for new hardware for a MUD (I still play), back in the early 00's. So, if the mod/game is worth it, whatever I have handy at the time....dunno, I've never really been one to skimp if I have the money.

I bought Counter Strike on disc way back when and I already owned Half Life. So if it's a mod as good as that then hell yeah I'd pay. GTA isn't the best example for me though, and I'm not much of a PC gamer anymore.

100$ some mods are well worth it and will provide hundreds of extra hours

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
