What is the best Engineered Video Game Console Ever?

Xbox 360 127 13.86%

PS4 405 44.21%

SNES 123 13.43%

Dreamcast 62 6.77%

Atari 2600 12 1.31%

None of the above 187 20.41%

Total:916

Absolutely no way, the 360s huge failure rate, disk scratching, rocket fans poor heat displacement design it was a great architecture developer wise but it was put together awfully.

PS4 wins this for me easily the hotter more expensive components than the xbox one and manages to be as thin as a ps3 slim with good heat and sound control. Visually appealing, great to develop for and versatile. Most impressive to me is the size.

I sure as hell loved mine! Best engineered though? Depends on what we're talking about. The original ones with the RROD are certainly not the best engineered, but the Elite versions and forward were amazing. You're right about their choices. Smooth online gaming and easy to develop for are certainly important features and 8th gen consoles.

Add me on Xbox: DWTKarma

Well it definitely wasn't the worst engineered console of the 7th gen.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I agree if you don't look at the red ring failures. I luckily never had one (while owning lots of 360s).
The 360 is Dreamcast 2 to me and therefore one of the best ever created. It continued the path that Dreamcast created and made it work for the mass market. The company and its economy decisions may be bad to most consumers but that doesn't make the console bad. It's still superior to the One and PS4 imo and it baffles me how MS could launch a successor to the 360 that doesn't even support the same features more than one year later. They simply destroyed a good machine in favor for a Windows-everywhere-for-everyone mania.
I'd say SEGA would have done a better job with Kinect, though. On Dreamcast they had the "old" tech for motion control games and those played way better than Wii while Kinect failed.

My four RRODed Xbox 360's say hello.

Id say the PS4 is the best engineered console ever. Probably the smoothest work Sony has ever done, but I prefer the Xbox One's OS and exclusives right now nonetheless.

Well the ps4 hasn't had any widespread failures, it's a tiny machine and it's the most powerful console of the generation. I'd say that makes the ps4 the best engineered console ever, or atleast above the 360.

It lack powerful CPU like the cell and big capacity disk like Blue ray, and it more easy to get RROD then YLOD on PS3, and also when i try to move the console or change the position from horizontal to vertical the disk got scratch.

Ease of use for devs is only one factor, and it wouldnt outweigh the failure rate of the machine.

But even if that is taken into account, the PS4 and the X1 both beat it, and im sure as every gen goes along, consoles will increase their similarities with PC hardware.

Overall, its got to be PS4.

The best piece of hardware I ever felt I got as far as consoles are concerned was that first version of the PS3. It was sturdy, backwards compatible through two systems, could play blurays.... My xbox360, meanwhile, broke almost immediately (and again about a year later, and now is not working yet again; perhaps I'm just unlucky) and was about the noisiest console I've ever encountered.

That said, my Xbox 360 still got more use lol

Btw, I want to make a special mention for the gamecube. It was also exceedingly well built, the games were great, and it looked wonderful with a controller that some disliked but I'm quite happy with. The original Xbox wasn't too shabby either.
