Forums - Gaming - Do 1080p Xbox One Games Indicate That Xbox is Now on Par With PS4?

Will Xbox One ever reach parity with PS4?

Yes 42 6.93%

No 492 81.19%

Who cares, I have a high end PC 30 4.95%

It's about framerate not resolution 42 6.93%

Total:606

At least not yet.

I'm sure PS4 has one game that renders internally at a resolution higher than 1080p, but I don't know what it is, it's not a big game I think, but I remember reading about it on digital foundry.

PS, PS2, Gameboy Advance, PS3, PSP, PS4, Xbox One

Those ships already sailed at launch. Honestly, I don't really care all that much about 720p or 1080p when I buy a game but some people do.

No it just means devs are getting better at using wats available

I'm not sure that's how hardware works, its like saying "Oh, the gtx 760 can run Half Life 2 in 1080p maxed out, that means It can do Crysis 3 1080p maxed out like the Titan does!" I know its a crappy comparison, and the performance gap isn't nearly as big, but you get my point. It being able to do 1080p on a few games won't automatically make it do 1080p on all.

The only disillusioned folks are the ones believing a weaker GPU can perform as well as a stronger one.

With that being said I don't see a large chunk of the x1 user base denying the facts.

The hardware gap will always be the same. Its the software gap that can change.

Software changes, Hardware can't by definition. It will always be PS4>X1>WiiU>PS360.

Lets just forget that lots of games are still coming out as 900p on X1.

Also Resolution doesn't equal visuals, I could build some cheap old as PC that can play GTA V in 1080p on lowest settings, doesn't mean it's equal to PS4/X1 version.

Resolution being equal doesn't mean that visuals/hardware is equal, damn.

No , and i think i have seen a thread like this some days ago.

We probably did. Honestly most thread topics are just being regurgitated over and over again.

One small fact OP is missing is that resolution isnt the only thing which the extra power of the PS4 can go into.

If two games are 1080p, the PS4 will have a more stable frame-rate.

If you then say a game is locked to 30fps on both, then theres still other graphical details the extra power of the PS4 can be put towards.

The only time a PS4's extra power wont show is when a dev chooses not to utilise that power.
