Please enlighten me. You had a good argument there! Wait nevermind, I don't take economic lessons from someone who can't distinguish economic value from market price.

I don't buy that.  The Wii U has been out well over 2 years.  a £50 or $50 price drop will have a short term effect on sales like I said.  But lets not kid ourselves.  If someone wanted a Wii U, and hadn't saved up enough to buy one in the 2+ years it's been out then they are likely never going to get one.  

Just look at the Xbox and PS4.  Prime examples of machines in demand, selling, no matter the cost.

Announcement is announcement it will directly affecting potential sales of their current product, it doesn't mater when they will release it will slowdown Wii U sales, and i doubt they will release NX on 2017, it will happen thou if current tech and media is still depend on TV, today we have internet and social media site, and also information is very easy to spread. the same goes with PS4 and Xbox One with the reveal of their product has  the same year with the release.

Teasing isn't announcing. especially when they didn't even specify if it's a portable or home console.

teasing or Announcement it has the same affect since people react fast, even when social media haven't yet popular it easy to influence consumer, and yet we have the official info from Nintendo about NX and their future platform and they clearly state "it will defining what is handled and what is console ". It doesn't matter like it or not Wii U is fail in the market and need price cut to boost it sell.

Actually the XBOne was selling something like 60k /week as a baseline before its last price-cut. It took two price cuts ($500 -> $400 without kinect and then $400 -> $350) to get the XBOne selling well enough. And it still sells half of what the PS4 sells, while the Wii U sells half of what the XBO sells. 

While we don't know anything about the Wii U's demand curve and the price elasticity of demand, we can be certain that a lower price will increase sales. The questions are: by how much and at which prices? 

As for people who want a Wii U already buying one, obviously that is not true. Wii U sales are up YoY, meaning more people are buying Wii U now than they had last year. So the market is not yet saturated with Wii U's. Maybe some people are waiting for the price-cut because they know it is imminent (I know I am.) Maybe some people want a Wii U as a secondary gaming platform, but won't pay $299 for one. Maybe there are a lot of kids whose parents can't get a $299 Wii U but want to play their favorite 3DS brands on said Wii U. There is obviously a market for Nintendo games which isn't being saturated (illustrated by 3DS sales.)

I sure hope so, though I'm not certain it will. Nintendo loves to not cut when we think they should and cut when we think they won't. Tricksters!

You aren't making any sense. every product will have early and late adopters. there's no such thing as "whoever wanted one already bought it" this early in a product's life. wii u costs $299 since launch and many people perceive that as too much. people also know a pricecut should come soon after two years with the same price.

Oh, x1 having a pricecut of almost $200 in one year is the very opposite of selling no matter the cost. Ps4 sells for a sad reason.

I would like a wii u but at the $299 price point it's not cheap enough for me. Sure I can afford it but I don't feel the price justifies the means. unless it drops soon I will. Erin collecting games I would like to play and just wait. Most Nintendo games don't go bad with age so I'm in no hurry. $149 nintendo!!!! I can dream

Ok, well seeing as everyone is cutting me down about saying the pricecut won't make much of a difference beyond the first few weeks, I'll take a back seat then. When the price cut does roll around and the Wii U sells by the bucketloads for months on end, I'll come back on and apologise to you all. But I wouldn't be holding my breath :)
