Forums - Gaming - Bandai Namco Producer Explains Why The Publisher Is Bringing So Many Japanese Games to the West

I dont think the audience wasnt there. They simply didnt listen to it until now.

But, whatever the reason, i'm pleased with it. Though i wont be getting many of their upcoming titles except for Tales of Zesteria and Naruto 4 when its cheap. I'm also maybe getting one piece red when its dirty cheap.

But i want Tales of Innocence R. Day one.

I'm not into most of their games..but it's still nice to see. I do want GE2RB

If only Square Enix were right them...

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

Does this mean there's hope in Namco localising Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode? Maybe close to the release of the new Digimon anime?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Maybe it's both. I do believe that the audience has always been there, but not enough to fullfill Bamco's sales desires (I...guess). Now that this audience has grown exponencially, then there's point in localizing more and more of their games.

Ok so Digimon now!

The option of digital-only has certainly helped with this. They can test the waters with something like Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment and when it exceeds their expectations, then they know there's a market for it.

Anyway, I'm very happy this is Bamco's new direction. They're such an important part of the Japanese market, it really felt weird without them committing to the west (other than the Namco side of things).

We're still missing a lot of stuff I'd like (most notably the handheld Tales games; Digimon; Gundam) but the strides they've made are great.

Well the handheld vita audience is just so small for namco to consider it. You can convince Namco of only so much. Maybe Namco will pull and Square-Enix and just repackage a lot of those titles. I would love for Digimon to get localized.

Which games specifically were you referring to?  Because there's a 3DS Tales game; a 3DS Digimon game and some 3DS Gundam games that haven't been localized.  So it's not just Vita :P
