Uhhh, did you play the original games?

I remember I borrowed the original from my cousin.

They didn't have campaigns.  They had multiplayer, galactic conquest, and challenges which were basically small story missions... Which is exactly what they have described here...

I was wondering how they made this game in a little over 2 years, now its obvious.

If you already have a game engine, which dice obviously has, then it shouldn't even take 2 years, especially for a shooter.  If anything, they have taken their time.

Which dev is releasing a shooting franchise every 2 years?  Even cods developers have had to switch to 3 years with the increased development costs this gen.  DICE took 2 years to make Battlefield 4 and it was obvious when that game released they needed more time.  This isn't even a Battlefield game, they had to change way more here.

I am well aware of how the original games were, but like I said including a story mode wouldn't go against what they are.  Even if its just a narrative on top of the already existing formula.

Battlefield 4 and the cod switch to three years also happened during a console transition when changes obviously needed to be made to the game engine.  It can obviously be done much quicker once the game engine is up and running.

they need so long because they are talentless and lazy.

I loved the original and sequel campaign, but co-op splitsceen is lacking on PS4. Good for co-op! The old games did not even have much narrative.

Still waiting on my first question to be answered.  If it shouldn't even take 2 years like you claim you should know of some devs that are doing this.

Well that is disappointing :/

I had to do some research to see if the original Battlefront games even had a campaign.....

They were just a bunch of missions tied together, with some clips from the movies as cutscenes. The original games didn't really have campaigns.

As long as there is some kind of single player mode (which there is) I'm happy. Better than what Titanfall and Destiny offered (which was nothing).

I do hope there is a Galactic Conquest mode, though. That's the only aspect of single player from the original games that was even remotely memorable. Generally, I just enjoyed engaging in Instant Action skirmishes against the CPU myself.

And hell, upon re-reading the news, it sounds like we'll be getting special content for single player/co-op. The original game just used the mutliplayer maps for the single player missions. So this could actually be even more than what the originals offered.

Was a big potential buy from me......

....now it's miles off the list.
