Forums - Gaming - Mortal Kombat X Day One Update Makes Gold Harder to Get in Order to Boost Paid DLC Sales

So... don't update the game, enjoy it and earn loads then, once you've unlocked every/nearly everything. Update it. :)

Hmm, pie.

So much outrage....over what exactly? Maybe they were giving out far too many koins before.

I've only played this game for a day so far and cleared out 2 huge areas of the Krypt already. Isn't the whole point to have something to look forward to unlocking over time as you play? I have no idea how many koins people were getting before, but considering all the bonuses you get for completing certain actions in matches you still end up getting plenty most of the time. What's the issue? Do you need to be handed the entire krypt's contents in a day to be happy?

Making the content 33x longer to grind to unlock after reviewers played the game and rated it is the issue I think most people are/should have with this. Lots of games are rated based on their value for money or lack of it.

The value for money hasn't changed. They didn't remove content, and from my experience playing the game so far you certainly don't have to resort to paying money to unlock things at a reasonable rate.

So they gave reviewers an easier time seeing all the content. Big deal. That's pretty common. A lot of times review copies will just come with everything unlocked from the get go. They have much more limited time on their hands for every game before they have to move on. Why do you think most of them play every game on easy.

Between the extra Fatalities, dozens of Brutalities, and match modifiers locked up alongside costumes and art in the interactive Krypt, players should be prepared for a long grind before they can unlock the "entire" game.

If we had just one word to describe the new Mortal Kombat, that would be "excessive". The violence is always over the top (sometimes even a little bit too much so), and the various game modes and unlockables will keep you busy for quite a long time. A must-have for all the kombatants out there.
2 of the reviewers who had the easy to unlock everything versions of the game mention it would take quite a long time to get the "entire" game, now increase that long time x 33 before having access to all the game modes and you'll surely see why this isn't really doable without buying the dlc packs if you were going to include MKX at any kind of tounament where content would need to be open for use.
regarding reviewers game difficulty a lot of games don't have settings for them and I've very rarely seen reviews say "this game is great fun because it's so easy on the easy setting" but you do see the cost that you need to get to play a game pop up frequently recently seen it used against
when it was on sale on psn, a lot of low scores for the game there but a lot of them rate it harshly because of the games cost so of course the cost effects the score.
basically cost/value effects game review scores.
having an easy difficulty rarely does.
What is your point about reviewers playing games on easy?

Sounds like if you're interested in unlocking stuff, just uninstall and reinstall without being online (so this nasty little patch doesn't download). Still a crock of shit, though; this isn't a f2p title, so it shouldn't make you grind like one. I'm sure there'll be enough internet outrage to make WB change it in a few weeks.

Edit: Just wanted to throw out there, this is a direct result of gaming websites refusing to revisit their reviews after the game's been altered via patch.

I am displeased with the whole thing. I preordered on PSN but Sony decided to cancel my pre-order on launch day because they obviously didnt want money. The goro dlc is still there from the pre order but i had to buy the normal version cause it was too late to make a new pre-order. Turns out i payed the same as the people who pre-ordered and i got no DLC working.
So, the whole thing pisses me off added to these micro transactions. Everytime you pause you get right in the middle of your screen how to make easy fatalities and your currency for them. It almost feels like an F2P game.

The game is also clearly unfinished with several characters you fight on story mode having models and moves but not beeing on the playable roster. WB greedyness is ruining MK and i wish they would stop it and let Netherealm develop the game they envisioned. The game itself is good, but its rushed.
