Forums - Nintendo - Your experiences getting Brawl

I arrived at 11:50 pm and waited in line with 30 people infront of me, Then a few minutes later, cars and taxi's started to come and the line suddenly grew to 60 or 70 people, then the doors open and we cheered for the first person who got his copy, he deserves to get the first copy, he's been waiting in line since 3:30 pm in the heavy wind and rain, then I finally went in the store and got my copy, Then I picked up a balloon for my little sister, Went home 30 minutes after and played the Subspace emissary and adding people to my friend rooster

I arrived at 9:00 p.m. and waited in line infront of the store. When I got there about 25 people were there. When the store finally opened at 9:40 there were about 55 people. Once it was 10:00 they started the tournament. Everyone was either bad, horrible, or below average. We forced to use the Wii+Nunchuck (the worst in my opinion) and we couldn't choose who we were. Naturally, do to my horribly bad luck, I was Bowser, my worst character! I owned in the first round but was knocked out in the second. The winner of that round (Pikachu) won the whole tornament. Then we all formed a line at 11:50ish and got our game at 11:59 acording to my correct watch. There were about 100 people by the time they released the game. It was a blast!

Bet with OriGin: Within 1 year Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be ahead of Mario Kart Wii (when aligning the one whole year from each region). 2 week ban from Vgchartz for the loser. Edit: Darn! Looks like OriGin will win.

Arriving back at Gamestop to the sight of the very same Sony malcontent and his crew out on the sidewalk, him screaming (in a half-mocking gesture), "Fuck Nintendo! Buy Metal Gear Solid 4! Nintendo sucks!" then they angrily went to their car and drove off.

...

Words cannot express my astonishment.  I didn't realize kingofwales was old enough to drive a car.

(I keed, I keed...)

We (my girlfriend, her brother and me) arrived at the mall. We saw a store (Sanborn's) that had the game (4 units in stock), but we checked at the games store there to compare prices. Price was a bit lower there, but they had only one unit in stock, and there were a lot of people that wanted the game there.

We also went to check other store there (Liverpool). They said that the preorders shipping was sold out, and that the second shipping that arrived that same sunday was sold out in the morning.

We went back to the first store, because we wanted to buy two copies and we bought them with credit. When I grabbed my copy I almost passed out, and we started laughing like idiots. It was euphoria.

Goddamn Sony Fanboys have to ruin everything

In all fairness I suppose it would be more accurate to call him a MGS fanboy. He's somewhat of a fixture in the local gaming community and rather infamous one at that (always begging the independent gaming store to hire him while hanging out there for hours and hours). I assume he's a MGS fanboy more so because at one point I believe he renounced the PS3 when he thought the game would go 360 exclusive (apparently he misinterpreted a podcast or something). But evidently he jumped back on the PS3 bandwagon at some point between then and the Brawl release.

If I'm not mistaken he showed up at the Halo3 launch as well.

Thankfully stories like mine aren't terribly common but then again college towns (where this was) do tend to act as the filters of society allowing promising and productive young adults pass through with thier college degrees onto careers somewhere else while at the same time accumulating (year after year) all those who are either too socially inept to function even with a degree or too unmotivated to even graduate. And with an abundance of restauraunts, convenience stores in the surrounding economy there is plenty of places for such individuals to find a comfortable and underachieving niche in the community.

Pre-ordered at GameStop. Picked up Brawl only to find out that no copy will ever work in it. Going to send it and Brawl in for repair tomorrow.

Geez you still don't have a working Brawl yet Bacon? Dang, my heart goes out to you man. You and your sister were the most excited for this game.

Woke up at about 4:00. Was at Walmart at about 4:45. Went to the game section. Looked at the Wii area, and didn't see the game. Started to walk away, figuring that either they didn't receive any copies or hadn't put them on the shelf yet. Decided to take one more look, and found a stack of about 10 on the floor of the shelf. Bought the game. Went to work, and was home by about noon. Started playing after I finished my homework.

It is finally shipping tomorrow! I will get it back in maybe 1½-2 weeks. By then, I will b going on vacation with a friend. I won't get to play my Brawl for almost 3 weeks.

I waited outside for about 30 minutes in some cold weather right before the midnight release. The funny thing was I couldn't tell if I was cold or I had to go to the bathroom, then I realized it was the excitement of waiting for brawl, being cold AND needing to use the restroom. Exhilarating, huh?

This will only take a moment of your time. *steals your watch*
