If Nintendo wanted to fix the problem they would and could- gameplay use is not driving demand for Amiibo- but collectos/scarcity is driving demand for presumed rare Amiibo while the "non rare" continue to sit on shelves like they have since January

So it is pretty obvious after this much time and this many releases with the same basic issues that Nintendo is short supplying as a sales strategy

I guarantee that if scalpers didnt buy amiibos, everyone who wanted a particular character would have one. If u made enough to sell to consumers while accounting for scalpers, scalpers wouldnt want them and the demand would drop while the supply would be toomhigh. The result would be someone losing money after selling these figuresmat a discounted price. Sucks for us, but I cant blame em for using logic.

The Nintendo rep isn't blaming anyone, he's simply stating how retail supply chains are operated. If people take it as laying blame, then they are missing the point.

I made a thread last year about how Nintendo should have been working to open a Nintendo World Store retail chain in malls around the world. This is becoming painfully obvious now.

The amiibo supply has been such a mess.

I don't know how much of an effect the port strike had, and even if the retailers messed up on something, I still blame Nintendo for failing to have a supply that satisfies the ridiculous demand.

We're at wave 4 of these things now, and the fact that Nintendo still can't supply properly worries me.

You don t see many companies selling to the consumer intentionallly use a similar  strategy for a reason-  It may yeild short term demand and profits but it hurts longer term organic demand and it is a poor way to treat your loyal customers and thierr children who actually want to buy certain amiibo s to use -  

It s just not a very good look for Nintendo and contiues to erode its sqhrinking core fan base while putting off potential new customers at the same time

Such a detailed response! It does seem like they are just explaining the retail process though.

I also want to comment how awesome Nintendo's customer service has personally been! First they helped me register my digital Smash Bros Wii U game in the right club nintendo account when I downloaded smash on the the wrong NNID account. And now they've repaired my Wii U yesterday when I shipped it to them the day before. And today they're shipping the repaired console back to me! 

Yeah, they allow scalpers to scoop up all their amiibo's. That's totally on them.
