Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why Don't You Like Neogaf? (Or why do you?)

Please...

I didn't say anything on NeoGAF that I wouldn't say here and I got permabanned without any sorts of warning or previous ban.

At least on VGC you know who's the mod and you're given a reason as to why you were moderated. And you're not permabanned the first time..

You are banned because the history of ioi and VGC there...

When ioi did what he did there the GAF put a rule that discuss or created discussion over VGC won't be allowed... you can use the numbers and even quote for predictions but you can't start to derail the thread talking about VGC.

It is sad you just paid the bill for old members there I don't agree but what happened there left these things.

PS. I talked about VGC and defensed us there a lot of times... never got a ban... it is how you put the things with the "subject" of the thread.

Edit - You need to see how much tweets I got when they thought I made Aqua ask for permaban lol... I was sleeping... they even used pics of me talking in VGC NPD thread lol

Do you need to pay to become a member?

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Nope. No need to pay.

Well, I read somewhere in this thread that you needed to pay Glad that it's not the case.

I'm indifferent to Gaf. I only go there when people link to it. I don't hate it but I don't particularly love it either; it's just there.

I don't like it's sign up policy. I also don't like the mods, majority seem of a certain bent.

I do like the fact they stay interested in games after they are released. The OTs are great, where as most games on this site are talked about up until release, and then very little discussion will take place afterwards. Especially true for exclusives. I also like the fact they have more retail staff who give store updates, as well as devs and a few insiders who are actually legit.

That's their only big advantage, but honestly most gaming forums (aside from VGC) are like that.

Their other only big advantage is leakers that give them proper original content. Although if you read between the lines, we have a few users who could give us a fair bit of inside info if they were so inclined.

I mean, our Monster Hunter thread has the last four posts of me cursing out various monsters and no actual discussion. I know we've tried to get gaming discussion going, but it never seems to work around here.

On the other side, nowhere else can you have discussions about what makes this industry tick, like VGC.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I would like to know why that is. Whether the community here really isn't interested, or if it is just an issue with the size of the community itself. I think it is a shame that people don't discuss games to a great extent after release.

The website design is a nightmare. Not only it's bland, but very irritating to read. 50 posts on one page is understandable when there's a huge amount of comments, but reading each one of them is a chore, especially when there's 100 pages ahead of me. And the site doesn't seem like fun. Just a bunch of memes, short comments and... nothing else. It just doesn't have a variety like here. But eh... it's a specialized website after all.

I like Neogaf due to its stringent membership policy. I feel it reduces trolling more than any other forum, which promotes more meaningful and genuine gaming discussion.

Paradoxically, my criticism of Neogaf would be how long it takes to get membership approval.
