GTA5 has sold as many retail as the wii u has sold software (both life time global)
That is a pretty amazing stat from 2 perspectives

But he shouldn't be using a shipped number to determine digital now should he?

Take-Two announced it shipped/digital 45 million units of GTA5 by december. no way is at at 54 million sold through now.

I mean I don't really use it hardly at all but it's good to have for the remaining PC games I have physical copies of or DVD's which save me having to rebuy them digitally for a higher price.

Didn't know about that announcement. Got back to do some math, and according to vgchartz, by the end of 2014 and by those numbers take two give there was 3,4 million copies between digital sales and the ones sitting on shelfs. That is such a poor performance of the digital version. I guess the lack of presence in digital store sales (the discount events) didn't help. My, much more educated, guess is that by now, digital sales are closing in the 3 million mark.
