In Xenoblade Chronicles X, the earth has been annihilated as a result of interstellar war between two alien empires, one of which is bent on genocide against humanity and presumably all similar species. In the opening cutscenes, you see that the majority of the NYC sized refugee ships get blown away while trying to escape. And then on planet Mira, the genocidal Growth empire continues to pursue mankind. We even see a large escape pod of sorts containing probably dozens of scores of people get destroyed just before the MC and friends can save it. There's even info of civil war and uprising on earth as people realized that the escape plan wouldn't work for everyone. I would say this is pretty freaking dark. And yes, Xenoblade is a Nintendo IP :P

Yeap, the thing is though we dont have information on how different the games will be, many speculate (some things being facts) that white kingdom will be practically be a traditional FE game going up against Nohr, etc, etc...... BUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTT, Black Kingdom is a game where you actually have to tear up shit from the inside out. Because your country has a dictatorship king (i mean look at that trailer again).

Thats why i dont see a problem with the next games. Because many worry that FE Black Kingdom will mirror White Kingdom (excluding ch 1-6) in terms of being on opposite sides of the field. I really really dont think this will be the case especially when its confirmed White Kingdom will be like Awakening with grinding levels with Black Kingdom will not (so im guessing Black Kingdom will have more chapters than White Kingdom)
