Trying to beat this game without leveling, shadows of Yharnam are proving to have my number.
If you like this game, play demon's souls, both games share lots of similarities.

you dont have to farm much to hit 84. You can run that area just before Mergo for mad echos. 1 hour of farming here with 3 moon runes (I was getting 92k each run each run maybe 5 min) and you could go from lvl 70-90+

Leveling really helps in this game since anything you level raises defenses so you can technically brute force your way through some bosses unlike Dark Souls where the only difference between a level 40 character and a level 80 character was getting 2 shot by a boss instead of getting 3 shot.

Basicaly my strategy for every boss was to get underneath or behind them and spam quick attacks and bloodvials also fire/bolt paper.
Agreed, I would even say it's easier than Dark Souls 2.

I think you may have experienced the "memory leak" glitch the game has because believe me the old dude in the wheelchair can be a a bitch. If you are in the game for lots of hours the AI becomes kind of stupid. Some bosses in some chalice dungeons were very easy for me because of this, and then other day I turned on the PS4 enter bloodbourne and within some minutes I remade the chalice dungeon, so I can kill them again, and I was like WTF! I even had 50 or so more levels, but they were a lot harder.
