So I'm a huge fan of Dragon Quest series and have played and own all but 2, 3, and 7. I had looked for 7 for quite a while but when I heard there was a 3DS remake being made I hoped that it would come to North America... it didn't. T.T but after 3 years I found a perfect condition PS1 copy of the game! I turned it on and started a save file when I came to a sudden realization... PS2 memory cards don't work on PS1 games -I had assumed since the cords and controllers worked on both systems that memory cards wouldn't be a problem- my assumption was incorrect.

Alas, because it's was late I have to wait till tomorrow to buy one. CURSE YOU MEMORY CARDS!

Anyone ever had a similar experience?

Haha yeah found out are escape wasn't compatible with the ps3, bought a ps2, then found out I had to buy another memory card for ps1 games.

a thread about PS1 and PS2 memory cards?

DualShock 1 doesn't work in Code Veronica X.

One time I lost my GC memory card, so I started looking for it. After about a month of not finding it, I buy a new one. Lucky me, the next day I found my old one

I got right to the end of disc 3 of Final Fantasy VII.

My memory card wiped.

I never saw the end of Final Fantasy VII. :(

I also ended up selling my PS1 a few weeks later and sticking with N64 and PC gaming haha.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Would you not just play it on ps3? I think ps1 games are compatible.

Play it on ps3 and you won't even need any memory card :)

They are

Assuming matching regions, of course.

This actually happened to me with Final Fantasy IX. I was deep into the last dungeon until the game kept on freezing and my memory card was wiped. A few years later though, I got it for PSN and played it through entirely.

OT: I was also waiting on DQVII 3DS before I tried the original PS1 version. If you have a PS3, just play DWVII on that. That's what I've been doing or atleast started..I seriously need to get back to Dragon Warrior VII.
