There's loads of youtube channels that cover Nintendo. These guys are out of touch if they think Nintendo doesn't get publicity from youtube anymore.

The Completionist mostly does Nintendo vids, same goes for The Game Theorists, Ijustine, GameXplain, Cobanermani (makes a living from Nintendo let's plays), Projared, Somecallmejohnny, Gamegrumps, etc.

Of course they do. If they depend upon Nintendo products to make their living then thats their livelyhood. It isn't Joes. It's mostly people who are outside of the Nintendo world whom are the most vocal and they are speaking out even on behalf of the Nintendo gamers are affected by Nintendo's decisions. At some point we have to be united as gamers on something.

What exactly are these people crusading for? What prevailing moral issue are they protecting? In what ways are gamers adversely affected by this program?

Probably worried other companies will follow Nintendo's example. ;)
How come Cobanermani can upload his vids without problem (he's not signed up for that youtube program of Nintendo)? These youtubers are exaggerating the problem to make themselves look important.

This argument has nothing to do with gamers, but rather Youtubers who provide content to the viewers.

So you're up for it then? Better get started, clock's ticking

Why? I make a living from doing my favorite thing, doing historical research (and every article I write takes much more than 60 hours).

Gaming comes second.

Even if I wanted a youtube channel it wouldn't be about gaming, but about antiquity. I don't think the Romans are going to take down my vids.

If Nintendo doesn't learn to adapt to changing times, it might be sitting right there next to the roman empire in the not so distant future.

Not true. His argument is that everyone but Nintendo realizes that Youtube is one of their strongest sources of word of mouth and publicity.

Which is a pretty poor argument. It is precisely that Youtube is a strong source of word of mouth and publicity that Nintendo wants to control it. There is such a thing as bad publicity and bad word of mouth.

I'd be more worried about other companies if I were you. ;)

And the Roman Empire only fell in 1453, that makes it the longest existing empire by a long shot.

Yeah, but Nintendo doesn't care about good or bad publicity, they just want control. They've always been control freaks. They even tried to control third party in the 80's and 90's historically. Its just the way they are.

So it's just youtuber's protecting their bottom dollars, nothing more or nothing less. It's kinda telling that the most vocal are the youtuber's who do not focus on Nintendo content are the most offended, while those who do are not perturbed one bit.

Didn't the egyptian empire last for longer? Seriously, Nintendo should at least change some of their policies to better adapt to the gaming market of today.
