Much like the last of us I think its too soon to be labelling bloodborne a masterpiece. I finished it today and while it definitely deserves the scores it's received im hesitant to say it will be remembered as such. I think a lot of that comes down to the fact that I've played Demon's and dark souls so bloodborne was just a tad familiar feeling.
Demon's Souls was a masterpice already... Bloodborne is better than it.

Yes if you talk with NPCs and wants to knows the story... nothing is told directly you need to find the story by dialogues.
PS. You can beat the game without talk with anybody... so you can not know the story.
