Forums - Nintendo - Captain Obvious: NX Will Launch in 2016 With Zelda

The NX probably will not be out till 2017 at the earliest, releasing it in 2016 would be a dumb idea for them if its a home console because it would be too soon of a release to the Wii U. The NX is more than likely Nintendo's next handheld than the home console, and I really doubt Nintendo is going to delay Zelda U into 2017 when between now and then they could create a kickass 3D Mario game to be a launch title for that system that would probably sell more than what Zelda U could hope to.

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

How is 4 years too soon?

Sega Genesis released 3 years after Master System and went on to be Sega's best selling hardware ever.

Nintendo DS released 3.5 years after Gameboy Advance and went on the be Nintendo's best selling hardware ever.

Xbox 360 released 4 years after Xbox and went on to sell 60 million more than the original.

Obviously things aren't working out for Nintendo with Wii U, why keep it going for 3 million sales per year? By holiday 2016, Nintendo will have published about 45 games for Wii U, which is pretty much the same amount they did for N64 & GC so u can't try claiming they didn't support it.

Sometimes it's best to learn from ur mistakes and start over.

Yeah, I doubt they do. But at least it adds more games to the list that would give more people reason to buy it, right? : )

That's true but not really relevant to ur original post and it's not like those games simply aren't coming anymore if NX does get a 2016 release. Add to the list above

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars

Mario Party 10

Splatoon

Xenoblade Chronicles X

Mario Maker

Devil's Third

Star Fox

Project Gaurd

Project Giant Robot

And u now have 36 Nintendo-published Wii U titles over the course of 3 years. Add in a couple unannounced 2015 titles and a few 2016 titles and ur looking at over 40 Nintendo-published Wii U games before NX releases. For reference, N64 & GC each got about 50 Nintendo-published games in their lifetimes.

With my original post, I was meaning more of the recent titles from MK8 and onward are when the bigger games were coming out, and still are. I would like to consider DKTF, but some reason, people don't seem to favor it much : /

It's happening. I am such a fool. Bought a wiiu at launch. I will not make this mistake again. 2016 will be the launch of what could be Nintendo's last console. Good riddance dinosaur.

I could see it on both Wii U and NX... They did it before. This year maybe they will give us SS HD... And pay we don't rebel.
I can also see a nice price cut coming, as their big game of 2015 won't be showing up.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

NX is a handheld.

The Wii U is profitable and on a roll.

There's no need to rush.

2017 it is.

That's a bit extreme, if anything this generation has shown that there is little reason to ever buy a console at launch.

Wii U-unless ur a big fan of Mario platformers or Pikmin, there wasn't much reason to buy it in its first year

Xbox One-people could have saved $150 if they waited a year to get it and outside of a few games like Dead Rising 3 or Forza 5, everything was playable on its 8 year old predeccessor.

Playstation 4 just like Xbox One, 90%+ of its major games in the first year were remasters/ports of games on 8 year old hardware. Not much reason to own one at launch unless ur a huge Killzone or Infamous fan.

NX would still be for 2017 and most likely be a handheld device. for Zelda, i'm good not to rush games up and have a day 1 or so fix.

it could be said that Zelda U could have both NX and Wii U version but i'm still on the boat that it would be a Wii U only game.
