Sadly, it seems that X1 and PS4 can't handle 1080p either (unless the game is "simple", graphically speaking).

Only remasters I'd really want are Skyrim and ME trilogy... This is meh.

I have to blame wii360 owners for getting the cheaper consoles over the ps3, sony offered 900$ hardware at launch at the price of 600$. Imagine them doing the same this generation but pure pc hardware not just gimicky blue ray, cell and emotion engine for backwards compatebility. I think if the ps3 would have won with its concept the hardware in this generation would be very strong. But the profit motivated consoles won last gen in the end.

Not everyone could pay the 600$ of the initial PS3, not to mention 900$ you propose. No matter how strong your hardware is, if your machine is too expensive, people will look for the alternative. PC gaming is more popular now because whatever you spend on hardware you'll save on software.
