Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Subspace Emissary-- not that good.

I have to agree with twesterm, Subspace Emissary on it's own, is fundimentally broken. The camera is just awful for one. Sometimes it follows you, other times it goes on it's own and you soon find yourself off screen. That's not too bad if it's just scrolling left to right, but it's death when you're going through tunnels that run vertically and horizontally and you have no idea if you're hitting a wall or what and the camera is panning diagonally.
Playing co-op is even worse. Expect the 2nd player to be off-screen 30-50% of the time and die needlessly quite a few times throughout the game.

SE is a side thing so we can't be too harsh on it, but if it was game by itself it'd get a 4 for gameplay. Everything else is totally awesome though, especially the cinematics.

Uhhh, do you mean, "Before you all hang me out to dry?"

Personally, I've been really enjoying the subspace emissary but that could be because I've avoided all Brawl news in order to enter the game without expectations

I played it alone and it is boring. But playing it with my brother = much better. I think playing with someone is what this mode was supposed to be about.

I agree. I'm disappointed with SSE. They should make it like a classic scrolling 2D fighter like Streets of Rage or the old TMNT games.

One part I loved though was the jungle where you play with Donkey/Diddy. The DKC music was blasting and they had the exploding barrels that shoot you from one to the next it was just like playing DKC again.

The GT is complaing about that too..

I thought the GT review was fantastic.

I would love SSE like I loved Kirby Superstar when playing with a 2P.

The review was fantastic but they said this about the Subspace Emissary:

'you have to force yourself trough the levels'.

That's exactly how it feels. There are so parts that are insanely fun, there are some parts that you see that make you just groan, and then there are some parts that make you want to cry.

I'm at about 65% complete (6-ish hours) and I think I'm about done with the story. The only character I can see that I'm missing is Sonic (which is upsetting because he's the one I really want to play with). I'm pretty sure I'm right at the end and I have all the characters but Sonic so I'm guessing I'm going to have to go back through levels and find things.

-edit-

Just looked at the GameFaqs and I'm missing three characters (won't say which three other than Sonic) but looks like I'm going to have to revisit one level to get one of those characters.

SE- should of had nintendo baddies instead of those made up beings. When you walk through metroids world there should of been metroids baddies flying around trying to kill you. That would of been great and a good extra nostalgia.
Toobad the gameplay is bad on the SE but I already heard that from the reviews so I'm prepared.
Looking forward to the cutscenes though:D
