i wouldnt expect nintendo NX to be launched before 2017, and even maybe nintendo could decide to release it even later like in 2018 due to their bad experience with the wii u. Nintendo knows that the reason they wii u didnt sell well from the biggining is due to the lack of good launch title games, the gamepad concept being difficult to promote must of the audience and maybe the conservative power of the wii u(400 to 500 gigaflops). So seems natural that iwata will this time be more cautious and will release the new console until the time is right since right now nothing can stop the ps4(their marketing is to strong) and releasing a new console before the ps4 sales start to dwindle would be like the mistake sega did with the dreamcast. the right time to release a new console is when the current generation starts to slow down and people are ready for something new

absolutely true. hard to push for a new console even at holiday 2017. First Nintendo needs to have a console that can easily port 3rd party IPs especially the big ones. If not, it would just be a repetitive cycle. No more gimmicks just use a normal controller and have relevant CPU and GPU power needed.
I don't see any Nintendo big IPs for 2016's lineup. But Nintendo needs to continue to support it and have a price cut to be competitive atleast with the XBOX One. Not sure on how to salvage the Wii U in terms of getting new games outside of Nintendo IPs. Nintendo can also try to have a lot of remakes but it would still cost development time remaking it to HD. It seems Nintendo is always behind the curve which i don't know why. Since PS1 came in, Nintendo consoles really started to decline. Sony added a few gimmicks but they stick with the formula that is working. We all knew that the start of PS3 era they lost a big chunk of money and only upto to recent times they've got back that money. It is still a tough ride for the Wii U, but Nintendo needs to support it and hold on for atleast 3 years before the new console would come in.
Take note once Nintendo has new consoles, we all knew that the previous ones doesn't get that much of a support.
