It was an Amazon sale nothing to do with MS.

They probably did make an exception for a short time but I can assure you there is no way MS can get the price down to 300$ (for more than a temporary sale) to sell it for Christmas. I am not going to say MS is not going to sell a single console for 300$ but it will be very limited sales not the norm price

 

There are exceptions, Ive seen PS4s for 350$ multiple times. I even saw it for 329 at one point

It could be believed. Shane Kim put Microsoft on a path to mimic Sony's ten year plan. He initially set a seven year plan and then with the help of the Natal raised the expectation to match Sony's 10 year plan. Its predictable that they will follow Sony until their 10th year which would Microsofts eleventh next year. 

I sent Rolltide an article earlier about when Shane Kim revealed their version of Sony's ten year plan in 2009. Its a couple pages back. You'll be able to find it there.

I said at the outset of the gen.  A MS official could have said 10 year plan at the outset in 2005 but I can guarantee that the forum dwellers would have said "yeah right".  So I repeat, nobody expected the Xbox 360 to last 8 or 9 years, let alone 10, 11 and possibly 12. 


I did. I know how desperate Microsoft is to keep Sony's marketshare as low as possible (even though they expect high numbers). I tend to be very analytical about such observations. 

Ultimately the only opinion that matters is Microsofts, because they knew they would follow through with Shane Kims plan and thats what has kept the 360 as Microsofts greatest console.

I've been telling everyone about this since 2009 and around that time I had been on this site less than a year. I tend not to talk about things I haven't seen or heard. People tended to take Shane Kim seriously, because when he ran the Xbox division, much like Phil Spencer it was all about the games. Phil Spencer is essentially Microsofts Jack Tretton.

PS before you mention Ori, the developers talked about how MSFT assisted in man power and funding. Plus MSFT owns the ip, Ori is as big as knack to me

ps4 is outselling Xb1 mainly because of MSFT blunders and the initial price.

I dont expect him to say anything positive about anything else other than Nintendo, but I thought he at least put some sort of minimal research before spewing the usual shtick

Most if this is debateable/and or your opinion though. 


-Hardware isn't.  The PS4 IS a more powerful and efficient console.

-As the OP showed the PS4 DOES have more highly rated games.

-As the OP showed the PS4 DOES have FAR more games.

-Go to any country and you will see that Playstation has far more reverance than Xbox.  The brand is older, FAR more successful, and at this point has the benifit of nastalgia.

I find it interesting many people are saying that Sony is only in this position because of MS f-ups. But MS was only in the position they were to begin with because of Sony f-ups. (CELL, 600 dollar launch, hard to dev for hardware, etc).

I guess we have come full circle to where we were Gen 6. Nintendo made horrible decisions with branding, MS is clawing for what it can get in NA, and Sony is in a dominant position. Main difference is PS4 will not dominate like the PS2 and XB1 will do much better than the XB did (its already 1/2 there in sales).
