Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo will only bring 'OLD' games/ips to smartphones and tablets (speculation/theory)

when nintendo releases their new consoles with new games and everything is set we will not see these new games on smartphones and tablets etc. but old games from previous platforms will be playable on smart devices.. so basically you'll be able to play super mario galaxy on the go on every devices that can handle it.

i think this is the only logical solution if they want to sell their new console everything else doesnt make sense. so yeah smart devices are used as marketing to sell their own consoles :p

thoughts ?

Nintendo specifically said they are only releasing games on smartphones that are specifically made for smartphones, not games like Super Mario Galaxy.

You didnt watch the confrence did you?? -_-

It would be a terrible, terrible idea.

The mobile games need to be either spinoffs or different IP which play nothing like what is available on the dedicated platforms.

Give the people Super Mario Bros. mobile and they aren't going to want New Super Mario Bros NX. The console games need to stay console games.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Animal Crossing Mobile... It's going to happen, you watch. If there's any IP that screams mobile game, it could be that one.

i forgot to mention that lol like i said its only theory speculation and to bring old existing games makes sense than to make new less good games..but wait and see i guess.

The early Pokemon games would be great on mobile. There are already emulators available on most smartphones and the Pokemon games are the most downloaded ROMs. It also wouldn't hurt interest in the brand or future releases, in fact, tapping into a new audience with older games would only make them more interested in the newer ones.

They're going to use their IP to develop games specifically for smart devices - they'll operate and play differently because of the different controls. They said it would not be ports of old games. The only thing that makes me nervous is their belief that developing games for smart devices is going to boost their dedicated consoles. I didn't quite understand how that would work.

I understand that the move will reach out to millions more people, and having a membership account that covers all devices including smart devices and PCs is a sensible idea. I'm just not seeing how it would entice people to get the next dedicated console - but then, they haven't revealed everything, yet.

thats my point right there. i dont understand why people think it would be a bad idea. the bad idea is happening right now with someone making nintendo games without the nintendo quality.
