Didn't the stock fall 14%? It said so in another thread? I understand why though; after making quite alot of money some were bound to sell for a neat little profit

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

You mean the North American console market crash? I'm not from NA so Nintendo didn't do anything to save gaming where I live.

Read up, son.

I think their point is that even though you're not from NA (neither am I), NA and Japan is where the modern, global industry originated and thus it affected all of us. I sometimes get tired of hearing over and over about how Nintendo deserves this and that because "they saved the industry in the 80's" but they still did and it still helps both you and me as gamers today, even though we live in different parts of the world.

It's kind of like saying; "Well, I'm not from France, so Penicillin doesn't really help me."

I don't have any stock on Nintendo, why would this news make me happy?

If I had to express my feelings for this news it would be something like: "Ok, cool"

Well if you care about the companies health, you would see that this would keep the company alive, which is really needed. I am enjoying the Wii U and 3DS, but really the companies survival will always be on the back of my mind. This move allows them more wiggle room.

obviously some would be adverse to an idea like this because they are already very much 'alive'. they are dominant in the handheld department, and despite some people implying that Nintendo is massively declined in that department, a 5 year old handheld system of theirs is still competing sales wise with even the best main console seller

sure the Wii U has been a hiccup, but we all know Nintendo does not lose THAT much money on its Wii U division, they are a rather careful company in terms of investments; i.e. why you would see a huge price drop on the Wii U nor will you see them heavily stocked

I think the mobile venture could be good for the company but only if handled correctly. simply porting and allowing some of their titles (new and old) to be played on mobiles might be a terrible idea because a lot of the casuals just need their 'memory fix of Nintendo' and won't invest in the more expensive hardware if they have access on their little phone

however- if Nintendo essentially merges a mobile phone and handheld concept that could work fantastically. or at the very least only allow the downloading of their games on a certain device. there has to be some control otherwise it does not help them in the future but actually hinders them

The North American video game crash of 83 didn't affect Japan, Europe and the rest of the world. So, maybe Nintendo saved console gaming in NA (only).

America is full of countries that were affected. but regardless, Europe and japan were also affected, because if nintendo hadn't averted that crysis, gaming everywhere would have an uncertain future.

I still cant work out why some Nintendo fans and indeed fans of other platforms think this mobile venture is a bad idea for Nintendo.

It's because Nintendo Fanboys just spent 5 years bashing mobile games vehemently protesting that Nintendo's handhelds are here to stay forever.

Well guess what fanboys?  The writing is on the walls and luckily Nintendo sees it.  It's about time you guys did too!

No, Apple is dominant in the Handheld department.
