Yeah if you look at DS sales and then 3DS sales you can see that a large chunk of the market left for casual mobile games, a crowd Nintendo can target on mobile while still delivering the core gaming expirience gamers want on 3DS.

I just want to say that I love this news.
My 2 1/2 year old daughter has really started to dominate Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds on the phone. There was a plan to buy a 3DS for her next year, but now I don't have to. She can now enjoy Nintendo games without much investment, saving on the console, and not having to pay €40 for each game.

I love this news, I need to repeat myself.

I think it can be anything, really. they just needed to announce something so people don't yell Dooom on Nintendo exiting hardware production.

Iwata said to prove they are committed to dedicated video game systems, they have a new console named codename nx in the works.

Did he actually say console cause I didn't hear console... Handheld would make sense cause a lot of people are probably more afraid of their handheld devision in this context

I'm guessing NX = Nintendo "X", "X" meaning two roads intersecting ie: basically the Fusion concept. So it's not just a handheld or home console ... it's both.
