Forums - Sales - Can the XB1 take back the US crown?

The XBOne doesn't have a sales problem. It's doing good. PS4 is just doing better. Bundling software for free since the launch window, cutting Kinect, dropping to $350.....that's all just a coincidence.

This is true. Just because PS4 is exceeding all expectations doesn't make Xbox One a failure. MS just stated last week that Xbox One continues to outsell 360 at this point in its life-cycle.

And let's not forget, we're less than 18 months into a 5-7 year marathon. We've got a long road ahead.

Wouldn't it be awesome if X1 gets beaten by PS4 in the Halo month?

i'd rofl big time, i might even lmao if that happens

i think all that needs to happen is for xbox to release halo agaist no compitition while having a $100 price advantage. sony already did their part in delaying uncharted so now it is all up to ms to do their part.

It could very well happen with Halo 5 AND another price cut/massive bundle. I'm not so sure Halo pushes consoles as much as it used to though. Although I was very surprised to see the PS4 sell very close to the N3DS in the US in February with no significant(The Order certainly didn't have gamers rushing to buy a PS4) titles during that month... You never know with the PS4.

A $100 dollar price advantage? What do you expect the prices to be come this holiday? Also, you expect NO significant PS games?

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

$250 vs $350.

none worth talking about.  alienation or whatever will be out but digital only do not count.

Yes they can. If you mean take the lead in sales in the US. (King implies to me a form of domination)

Right now the gap is 650k or so. And will be around 850k by the end of the month. Do I think they can overcome this? Yes. If PS4 remains at 400 this holiday with XB1 getting Halo and other major titles I think it can catch the PS4 in sales by the end of the year. I see the PS4 build up to a 1.2 million lead and I think in the situation I described XB1 can catch it.

Don't see how that will happen. Its almost like people just can't accept that when it comes to NA, their is no such thing as console loyalty. People seem to think that somehow the XB1 should by default win NA because of how well the 360 did last gen, but forget what happened to the PS2 and PS3.

Last year by this time the gao was less than 300k, by October it was around 1M, this year by October it will be around the same, and this is all before the inevitable PS4 price drop. every year that gap will get worse. And its pretty much conoketeky downhill for the XB1 after halo.

I think the biggest tell this gen between the PS4 and XB1, is simply this. The PS4 doesn't seem to need killer exclusives or a lower price drop to be doing better than the XB1. Where does that leave the XB1 when Sony starts playing those cards?

I don't think it would, but the possibility is there.

i don't know where you or anyone got the impression that XB1 is a failure. I doubt anyone is saying that. I think this thread is specifically about what MS has to do to win NA by the end of this gen or if its possible.

And those saying MS should out more of an effort in other territories, the sinoke fact is that MS knows they haven't got a prayer in those other territories. They are simply focusing on the one territory that they know they at least have a chance at competing.

MS would have to go to extreme length to make this happen. It seems like people have said that the $400 PS4 is a better value then the $350 Xbox 1. So basically price advantage might not be enough for Xbox 1. It needs more than a $50 price difference to be a better "value" than the PS4.
That also just show how first impression matters. At $350, you would really think Xbox 1 would have better sales than the PS4 at least in the US.
