I think Sony PSN should also get a F. I may be one of the biggest PS fan there, but the customer service on PSN sucks. On the other hand, when I had the xbox360, Xbox Live customer service is top notch.

On leaving the store, i realized it was a little light. I noticed there was tape on the bottom of it. I opened it and it was stuffed with plastic. I went back in and they would do nothing for me. The manager even came across and refused to do anything. I have had good experiences with them and bad. They are no A+
Top outline the cronyism within the BBB system I should have used a better example though :/ |
Well, yeah, no company is going to have a completely golden customer service policy, so that's an impossible standard. Even if the company has the absolute best policies in place, and every staff member is fully versed in those policies, sometimes those employees are just dicks, like in your case.
If the BBB model is as you say it is, I have no doubt that cronyism will take place, this is how these organisations usually work. Take the MPAA, for example, if thr creator's of South Park are to be believed, then the MPAA exists entirely to just exclude independent film makers: the MPAA will only let cinemas show their films, if the cinema exclusively shows films that use their age rating certification. However, the MPAA will often refuse certification, or apply much higher standards to certification, to movies coming from studios who are not a member of the MPAA.
I've never had an issue with Valve that I couldn't resolve on my own, frankly (Most end up being issues w/ a Windows Hotfix and a game...not really Valve's issue). On the other hand, I've dealt with Comcast CS on numerous occasions. I feel giving them a B, is insulting to the letter B. Not to mention their other shoddy practices, terrible customer notification of upgrades, horrific 'timing' for when things are down etc...
Granted, my lack of interaction w/ Valve CS means I don't really have a basis for comparison, but I had to at least say something about Comcast.

Would also help if Valve could stop the flood gates a little since there's quite a few shit games getting through where either the dev gets banned, the dev is scum to begin with (back cata's of old games from 1999 thrown up as new) or the dev is trying to make a quick buck, the actual devs who want to do something new tend to drown with the rest of them. I dunno why you'd use Cinema blend though, they are hardly hardcore or centric about gaming as much as PCgamer and other gaming related sites. Can't wait for future Playstation,Xbox and Nintendo service articles though from their respective players. |
This. Origin customer service is miiiiles ahead of Steam, I was even able to call a local telephone number to get access to my account. Origin has become really good. Does Steam even have customer service?
I dont think they should stop the flood gates, most of the bad games get filtered out of the main pages anyway. Like if you browse enough, you realize most of Steam games are awful looking 2d indie games.

In Walmart's defense, they have shitty employees, but when it comes to return, they will basically take anything back with no questions asked, even if you open it and use it. It can't get any better than that.

Let's create the BVB, the better video game beureau. The same layout as the BBB but only about video games. We could address it to parents, make parents feel an obligation to buy in line with it as a social norm, and charge companies to have their games on their or else we will give them an F for unsuitable for kids :P

Parents rarely even read ESRB or other such ratings, what makes you think they'd actually go out to a website dedicated to gaming? I mean, it'd be a great resource and all, but I have doubts that parents would actually utilize it.

Such an organisation of sorts already exists, it's called the entire gaming media
The industry is about as ethical as the "most viewed" list on any Japanese porn site.
BBB is a joke and you can just buy ur way to a good rating... They give soo many wtf companies an A that it doesnt even make any sense

With that being said, Valve does need better customer service
PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850
Eh... I suppose it's a good thing I never had to deal with Valve's customer service!
