The handheld console has also benefited from strong sales of games released late 2014. Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS has sold 2.1 million units. Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire has sold 2.9 million units.

I'm kind of late today but 3DS beat PS4? I keep seeing on every website that PS4 is the top selling in hardware and software for the month coming from Sony themselves.

Are you all crazy?? Why would Sony think about a price drop to 299$? Then they have to do the same in Europe.
And in Europe you could increase the price and it would outsell the xbox 3:1.
At this point you can get a xbox in germany for 299€ with several games included and it wont sell. Sony has basically no competition in Europe.
Maybe they get down to 349$ and put a game in, but this is the maximum.

France is OK, though its still more than 2:1 in Sony's favor. UK is close, though its still nearly 1.5:1 there. Germany is the worst though, we're talking 5:1. So yeah...

Not bad for everyone. Wii U still on life support, but at least there's some risen interest compared to last year. PS2's 2nd February was 416K, so PS4 did okay for the market leader at 342K, and obviously quite a bit less than Wii. A decent month overall.

....but no! Doom and Gloom!!
