lol, countring ps4 a bit prematurely there, are you? whats suspicious about the timing. im my own person, and yes, i dont post here often but dont chalk me up to some alt account, that is insulting to my individuality.

The way all playstation home console sells since 1995 (except early PS3 era) makes other system enthusiasts sad. I can see that. It has the games. Its has the support first party wise, third party wise and indie wise and it sells well. Playstation is part of mainstream culture. So. Yeah. Keep making threads like these. Afterall everyone has the right to express their views.

put whatever spin on it you like, but yes, i enjoy expressing my views.

There no casuals on ps4 if it was the case just dance would have significatly sold better then other versions.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

lol are you serious? There are PLENTY of casual games on that list. Assassins creed, call of duty, fifa, DESTINY. those are all very casual titles. one of my jobs iis that i work at a family owned video game store that sells all kinds of games and consoles from the past thirty years, and i cannot tell you how many people come into the store who casually bought a ps4 just because it has call of duty and assassins creed, games they play very casually. my other job is that i tutor little elementry school kids in math, and their favorite game is destiny. go figure.im just not sold here based on your list that the ps4 appeals to more hard core than casual gamers. make a different argument and i might agree.

If Assassins creed, call of duty, fifa, DESTINY are causals games then what is Cook mama and Nintendo dogs.

If you say Assassins creed, call of duty, fifa are casuals gamers then those gamers never leave home console and those games would sold very well on Wii

But there are other services that are digital only. Hulu and Prime Plus come to mind. I'm predicting this because Sony is putting all their eggs in the digital basket. Vue being their latest service. It will all end up under the PlayStation brand. Either that or they will put it all under the PlayStation Network brand.

That doesnt mean they cant release physical media and consoles all of the sudden and piss of a chunk of gamers like when MS tried.

There is a difference though. MS tried to do digital games with a physical console. When Sony releases PS5 there will be no console to hold it back. I've said it before, but Sony isn't going to want to waste billions developing hardware that will be out of date in a year like the PS4. By ditching consoles altogether, they will end up in far more hands than they ever would being chained down to a console. Accessibility will make up for a disgruntled fraction of the user base.

Those are casual games. Casual gamers now are the 12 year olds that buy all those games every holiday season but ignore almost every other game. The cooking mama/nintendogs could use their own new designation. I'd call them the Blue Ocean user base.

I'm actually predicting that PS5 will sell 0 consoles. Because there will be no console. PS5 will be a streaming service that will have access to streaming movies, games, tv shows, music, and the like from one app. It will be on almost every phone in existence, along with TVs, computers, tablets and even on Nintendo's next console.

Yeah, Sony is just going to sit back and hand Nintendo and MS their share of the market...

It's the law of 3, and PS5 doesn't fit. Every third generation is a screw up, because enough time has passed for the company to forget their last screw up and they think they can dictate to the consumer.

Nintendo: N64 was the screw up, they let Sony in the door because they were full of bravado and thought they would always be at the top no matter what. GC was just more suffering as a result. Wii put them back but then the next third generation hit and Wii U is the result.

Sega: Genesis wasn't the first, but in many ways it was Sega's first real success. Dreamcast was the 3rd gen after genesis and well we know the result. They were never dominant in any generation but they still suffered the law of 3.

Sony: I don't really need to say anything about PS3 we don't already know.

MS: Xb og, a hopeful start. 360 an amazing expansion. 3rd gen Xbox, hubris and arrogance leads to several terrible decisions, Xb one failing to establish dominance even in 360's strongest markets, markets it ended up being the top console of the generation despite how amazingly Wii sold.

PS5 is not the fail generation where Sony makes terrible anti-consumer decisions, because it won't have been long enough for Sony to forget the PS3 early years and how much it alienated what Sony thought was a secure player base. PS6 would be the fail generation, but I don't think traditional consoles will be around by then so it's unlikely Sony or MS will get the chance to fail in hardware again.

Ok you could name them casuals games if you want but i still think their are not casuals because the term is not that precise.

But my point is that gamers who buy Assassins creed, call of duty, fifa, DESTINY will always buy consoles

They will be trading in a bottle of water for an ocean. Imagine PS5 in the hands of nearly every man, woman, and child on earth. Sony could make it happen, and they're working towards it.
