There "was" a guy on this site campaigning against The Order. He would go into all the threads regarding The Order and post how much he dislikes the game and then end every post with saying he don't want to see, hear, or read about The Order.

If that is not a Smear Campaign then I don't know what is. what he tried to do, failed.

You're equating one single guy on one single internet forum to a smear campaign?

And if this one guy's smear campaign had succeeded, how much less would The Order have sold? 100K? 10k?

I wont comment on speculations.

One guy on VGChartz ain't gonna have any significant effect on sales numbers, let's be realistic.

A smear campaign isn't as visible as massive TV ads. Add a review embargo that makes it impossible for people to cancel their preorders and you can sell pretty much anything as long as it has good graphics.

My point is that The Order 1886 would have achieved these sales, even if it were a two hour game with a 38 Metascore.

There is nothing more to say about it in this thread.

You want to be realistic? Have you seen the comments regarding The Order before and after release on various threads, on different websites, and on Youtube?

I have, and in addition to its detractors, I have seen a ton of people defending it. For every downplayer, there's a fan talking it up, that's how console wars work. The coin has two sides.

Console war is a campaign, and downplaying a game is part of it. You can add smear to it if you want.

Believe it.

If you want to call that a smear campaign, then every high profile exclusive ever made has had a "smear campaign" against it, hence it becomes meaningless claim. Every game gets trolled, that's nothing new or special.

If the Order reaches 2 million in sales soon enough, a part two will come out. They said they were going to put multiplayer into the second game so lets hope for a second try for the team. The story seems decent enough if it has great gameplay to back it up. Now Ready at Dawn know what not to do.

I'm getting conflicting answers, so let me sort this out for you.

When developers have to explain their version on twitter after being smothered with questions about rumors, that is when it becomes special.

When many people with the same agenda that rate 0 on metacritic and say "don't get this game it sucks" without posting a well thought out constuctive post, you might say that it is not a smear campaign, but just a troll. News flash, it is the samething.

This console war is fought by trolls, smear campaigns/downplays is their weapon. Believe it.

It's not a smear campaign. The game wasn't good.

It was good, maybe not your thing but it did certain things VERY well, but yeah it has its problems.
