Forums - Sales - The Order 1886 sales nearly 600,000 copies in 2 days. #SmearCampaign=Failed

Playstation_prophet --- you do know that reviewers are based on personal preference. Just because they didn't liek , doesn't meant that the game will sell bad because there will people like yourself will buy the game and will enjoy it. Thats not a smear campaign. You can't expect everyone to agree with your taste.

An example is justin bieber. Alot of us will find his music gay and anyone who lves it gay as well, yet it still sells millions regardless on all the hate. Thats because there people who love it. Is that a smear capaign, nope.

i played it and it was average at best and entertaining enough to play through the end. What was mentioned in the review is actually correct about the game

You know, some of Nintendo's games have been put through the ringer despite actually quality recently, yet I haven't seen anyone saying that there's a conspiracy. Same for the XBO. Yeah, the harsh reviews are just towards PS4 games. You nailed it.

I wonder how I would be perceived by the people of this site if I made a thread saying Kirby was put through a smear campaign.

Yes when kirby got poor reviews on gamespot prior before the order review came out on the same day nintendo user made a thread saying that gamespot is anti nintendo or biased against nintendo. Cant find the thread anymore but you should remember because it was on the same day

LOL this game has already been forgotten about. By the time Bloodborne comes out, The Order will probably be heavily discounted at most b&m stores.

And people won't even remember this because hopefully bloodborne will be very good. Then people will stop bitching about it and quit clammouring for a sequel which will probably the the same thing.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Saying one website is against a company is much more realistic than saying the entire gaming media and industry is against a company/game, wouldn't you say? I agree that thread was a bit over the top, but it's nothing compared to the abundant amount of people I've seen try to claim that all reviewers are out to get Sony because they're winning the gen or whatever. It's absolutely insane.

The swear campaign by the media failed.

There was no smear campaign. A smear campaign is a systematic, coordinated effort to ruin a reputation through slander and vilification.

There's no real evidence that reviewers or the media were attempting to ruin the game's reputation, it simply didn't meet the criteria by which they assess games.

This persecution complex in regards to Sony games has become absurd. There is no conspiracy, Sony just aren't outputting games that measure up to reviewer's standards.

Yet these games are certainly selling well, thats paradox if these games really would be bad? the order allready outsold sunset overdrive for example.

Not really; critically panned games sell well all the time. Look at Just Dance.

How did a game that was as bad as the media said sell almost 750,000 copies? It was a new IP and limited advertising. Why does 90% of gamers love the game? How did the Order get 2/10 reviews when it was broken and many games before it were? Why was it too linear back in the summer and 10 websites published it? Why did a week before release Youtube videos say the game was five hours long and multiple websites publish it with no mention of it being a speedrun? You can go to Youtube right now and walk walkthroughs. THEY ARE ALL 8-10 HOURS. Etc, etc, etc

Sounds like a smear campaign to me.

First bold: Sales really don't have anything to do with the quality of the game. And limited advertising? Interesting, because I've seen it advertised plenty of times myself.

2nd bold: Where did you pull this statistic from?

You seem to forget that a lot of criticism of the game isn't only about length of game, but how the story elements disappointed as well. The only thing that has been across the board positive is the aestetics of the game and the voice acting. Other than that, there's been quite a bit criticism leveled on every other aspect of the game.

How about the psn store.  4 stars out of 5

The Playstation audience will obviously be skewed more towards positive scores. People like to defend  their brand of choice.

The only difference is those 0 point hate and XBot fanboy ratings are missing.

But on the other hand, that leaves no counterbalance against the 10/10 scores of those defending their purchase.
