Japanese JRPG developer ImageEpoch has been in the JP news lately as eerie signs show that the company is dying slowly.
Three weeks ago, ImageEpoch had been found having moved from their current offices. The property was even up to rent at the local real estate agency. This coming after the company had failed to show up at a trial for unpaid invoices.
Two days ago, ImageEpoch's PSP titles were withdrawn from the Japanese PSN (fortunetaly my copy of Sol Trigger is safe in both of my PSPs).
And today, it appears that ImageEpoch's upcoming 3DS RPG Stella Glow has seen its official teaser site taken down.
It's clear that the company's just lost its rights on all their games : either they are bankrupt or they are being taken over.
ImageEpoch had decided to focus on 3DS despite numerous sucessful titles on PSP. They published Tôshin Tôshi in early 2014 on 3DS, which sold a mere 20K FW. Then they marketed an idol game called Sonipro in summer 2014 that absolutely bomba at 6K FW.
Their last PSP games sold 120K and 60K FW respectively, so betraying Playstation players cost them their business. Other developers should learn from this and watch what they do.
