After a bit I just followed IGN's walkthrough. It helped a lot.

There are more than enough SMT games on it + other games to justify a purchase. Plus all the games are cheap now. |
I can get it for cheap yes but I have a huge backlog on both my 3DS and Wii U so I'm going to try and get those done while I wait for games like Splatoon and Xeno X. Also I'm saving my money for those games.
That is why I'm watching lets plays.

SMT IV is pretty good. Harder than I expected when I first played it though XD

SMTIV was such an excellent game, and I don`t know why! The battles being 1st person should be a turn off, since you can`t see the characters, but the battle system is so fun! Exploiting the weaknesses of your enemies and getting extra attacks is so satisfying, especially when you get a smirk! x ) And getting more new monsters is so great! It kind of feels like pokemon. Gotta catch `em all... The story was good too... : )

Yeah the only thing I wish they change is for you to be able to see the characters and demons all with 3D models. That would be absolutely amazing.

I enjoyed the game overall...though it took me around a year to build up the motivation to beat it. The story was great, but I found the characters to be pretty dull for the most part. I did enjoy the combat and demon summoning/fusing mechanic a lot, enough to try out Devil Survivor and Persona 4 afterwards, both of which I enjoyed a lot more.
Seeing as how SMT IV was my first SMT game, I don't regret it buying it at launch. Even if the game itself wasn't perfect, it was a gateway to franchise I'm hooked on now. I have Persona 3 and Q in my backlog, and I'm looking forward to Devil Survivor 2: BR and Persona 5 when they release.

Yeah, seeing the characters would be great! Oddly though, it never bothered me that it was in first person in SMTIV or when I played Devil Survivor 2. The battle system was just that good : )

Yeah, some of the characters should have been more involved in the story. Namely the ones below.
I'm currently playing Devil Survivor Overlocked and love it so far so I will definitely pick up Devil Survivor 2: RB at some point.
SEMI SPOILERS (for other people not who I am responding to)
(the childhood friend, Isabaeu and the guy with the green scarf, I don't even remember his name)
