What the heck are Unturned, Robocraft, and Heroes & Generals? If they're that popular how have I never heard of them?

Happy to see that Civ: Beyond Earth is doing well. Surprised to see how well Dead Island: Epidemic is doing, doesn't everyone supposedly hate Dead Island

That is most downloaded there are more lists in the linked article including played were it turns out the half the people who have downloaded Dead Island: Epidemic which is F2P have yet to play it 4 months after release.

Interesting. I was expecting sales to be much higher. With how cheap games are, I wonder how much of a profit publishers make from Steam.

Probably not as much as they "should". That's why Rockstar keeps kicking that GTA5 can down the road.

And people wonder why alot of devs arent that bothered withPC ports
lot of these top selling games are F2P + steam sales

The ones that I bought on Steam did pretty well imo (Dark Souls 2, South Park, MGR). I also have Thief, but it was part of a bundle.

Ubisoft games like Far Cry 4 were mostly sold on Uplay.

But yeah, the holiday 2014 games were probably still too expensive for average PC gamers.

Bu..bu..bu..but PC has 175 million gamers*

So Steam isn't a happy hunting ground for the mainstream high selling AAA games. However, 900K for Shadow of Mordor = Xb one physical sales of the game. And it came close to being the best selling place for Dark Souls II, falling just short of PS3 physical sales. So it is a good place for those lower tier AAA games, matching and in some cases exceeding the console version.

Wow, Thief did surprisingly well on PC, better than the PS4 version. Considering how well it did I'm surprised that Square Enix laid off most of the development team.

Hehe, I bought it, too because it was in the Eidos Anthology for 25,99 € (all Tomb Raider, Hitman, Deus Ex and Thief games + some more).

It probably didn't that well at a higher price.

Hmm, this only makes me doubt their data collection slightly. Certain titles don't coorelate with the top sellers.
