Forums - Nintendo - Porting to Unity games to Wii U "worth it" cos it's "easy"

From Gamesutra's Mike Rose, who's hosting a panel at GDC:

"Devs who ported Unity games to WiiU said it was worth it because it's fairly easy. "

Well if its as easy as porting to android then yes it´s literally as easy as clicking a button

I would have to say it may even be easier. You don't have to program buttons you have to tap on screen, you can literally map commands to buttons.

You're forgetting optimizations. I believe Unity can't quite handle that automatically. Other than that it should be very simple though...

I expect things like this to solve Nintendo's third party problems in the future. As engines are designed to make games easier and easier to port, it would be a big opportunity cost for no benefit to ignore Nintendo platforms. Above all else, these companies are interested in maximizing profits.

True this is mostly unoptimized code. However We´re not talking about demanding games here (smaller Indy games aka not AAA/high fidelity games are made in Unity) so in most cases there will be no need to optimize
