Forums - Sony Discussion - Will Bloodborne be smeared like the Order: 1886? (Opinion piece)

LOL "smeared"... if by "smeared" you mean the backlash the game received for being overhyped and underdelivering with the final product, then yes, The Order was "smeared." Just as games like Watchdogs and Destiny were "smeared" before it.

Don't you know, only Sony exclusives can get negative backlash, because reviewers have it out for Sony. (This is actually the logic some people believe.)

So, did Destiny and Watch Dogs get such bad reviews, despite atleast one of them being a worse game? No.

Smear? The Order deserved the scores it got.

ok so it deserved a 6.5 according to you but the feeling I got pre launch due to all the negative articles was a 5 so I guess it exceeded expecatations.  People are expecting about a 7 for bloodborne so we'll see if it exceeds.

People went into Wolfenstein: The New Order expecting it to be a pile of crap. Yet the critics changed their tune when they actually played it. People were excited about Destiny but the reviews were modest.

Hence, critics can change their tune after playing the final product.

Were you around for the launch of Destiny? It was getting bashed in, it was later reviewers that started giving it higher score. Since people learned later on, Oh wait this is actually really fun and addictive. (Think it has a 75) (People thought this would be 90+ game)

(I actually think Destiny is an 80+)

Watch Dogs which I assume is what you are saying is the worse game, I think the case of watch dogs is that it didn't live up to the hype, but it didn't break down and was downright bad. It should have got a bit more slack, but its main flaw was not living up to hype, and not actually being bad game. (Think it is has a 80) (People thought this would be 90+ game)

(I am slightly biased for Ubisoft, I cannot tell if the backlash for this game was warrranted or not)

And yes they both had backlash, they were on pretty much all the biggest disappointment of 2014 (namely watch dogs).

There is a piece going around atm that exposes a culture among many critics.  They give hyped games a low score to increase website hits.  All 3 examples were sony games.  The order,  killzone and heavy rain. I believe Sony titles over all get the most attention on the Internet so they are prime targets for practices like this.

Other games get away with it like gta.  No way should gta 4 have a meta critic that high.  The game was good but the online was shit and technically a buggy piece of shit.  Critics have double standards.

I agree with you with GTA 4, I also agree that reviewers do this practice. I however don't agree that it is just Sony. However Sony fans love playing victims, and about a week after the Order reviews, I am starting to get sick of it. I still think The Order is roughly where it should have been, take out high reviews and take out low reviews, you roughly get the same spot, maybe it will be a 68-69. Killzone (Ps4) was a pretty boring a dull game compared to Killzone 2. If it was in regards to killzone 2, I don't remember negative backlash outside of them change the control thing a week in.

No comment on heavy rain, I could never play such a game and think of it critically.

Let's put it this way if some of nintendos games were sony games you'd suddenly get some 9/10 or 10/10 reviews dropping to 7's and 8's and excuses like not enough improvement over the last game or too basic online or story not great.  The reality is sony games are held to a higher standard.  Microsoft get this the most after sony and i think they do a lot to ensure it doesn't happen.

no they are not, they are just not as good.  sony got realy good reviewes for story driven games with a bad story and bad story telling...

Games like the order,  the last of us and heavy rain have excellent stories.  Same with others like Ratchet and Clank,  god of war and resistance.  They are very good at story driven games.

If bloodborne gets less than 90 on méta, it will only be because of the exclusivity

What if it's just bad? Hopefully we'll find that out from reviewers but ultimately we'll probably find that out from gamers.

The PS5 Exists.

For special effects sure.  For story most of them are average.  Overall they're better than people give them credit for.
