I am gonna sound like a total fanboy when I say this, but I don't care: Sony comes up with an endless stream of amazing ideas.  Actually I would say that is a fact.  However the grand majority of their products almost always fail to meet even half of  their potential.  The is because Sony consistantly writes down an amazingly good idea, and then makes the most half-assed attempt ever getting it to market.

 Examples:

-Smartwatch: They had the first one that did everything even most of the newest ones do (3 YEARS AGO).  It even had decent app support!  However their was ZERO marketing and they failed to support it longterm.  Even their newest Smartwatch 3 has been called "The only good smartwatch" by several review sites and yet they don't market the damn thing at all!

-PS Home:  Should have been amazing from the start but took nearly 5 damn years to even come close to its original concept.  It never even really reached its full potential as an MMO The Sims competitor.

-Xperia Z1-3:  The entire Z line (Especially the compact editions) have gotten constant praise from customers and reviewers.  They come with multi-day battery life, water proof capabilites, sleek designs, great UI's, and Flagship performance!  Yet again, no marketing and until the Z3 it was hard as hell to get ahold of one in the US!!! 

GRRRRRRRRRRRR!  I think Kaz is doing a great job, but he has still got A LOT of work to do.  Focus on a couple product launches at a time and SUPPORT THEM WELL when they are launched.

Sorry if that felt like a rant.  Thoughts?

I agree! Sony was first to the market with a lot of things but I feel like their products, in a lot of cases, could be more than what they ended up being.

A concept is easy, execution is another story.

What Sony could follow from Google to get rich is to sell people's information, but that would make everyone mad..

PS home is such a missed opportunity. It could have been a great social MMO-ish platform that makes a great social impact and puts Sony up there with Google and Apple if they didn't make a half-assed attempt with getting it to the market.

They are not aggressive enough with the retailers. For example most retailers in my country will sell Samsung tv's, LG and then some shit brand.

Hell u could say the EyeToy as well, it released a full 3 years before Wii and the motion control craze.

I agree.  Sony needs to try harder to get their products out there.  For instance the T-mobile section in Best Buy has like 5 Samsung phones and not a single Xperia.

Forgot about that one!  It's like Sony comes up with a great idea, puts it out with a few great things that prove it as a concept, and then hope someone else will come along and continue to carry their product.
