Yes because Nintendo needs your money :P
Honestly, if I had the money I'd buy one right now. The XL screen (I've never owned an XL model DS) and the better 3D alone make me want it. Everything else is a bonus.

Yes you should. Super Stable 3D is a real game changer, worth every penny imo.

Nintendo has said that there will be more New 3DS exclusives besides Xenobkade

Well, he can wait for them. I'm sure the N3DS XL will be cheaper by then.

They will only give you $40 for your used 3DS? Why not sell it on eBay or Amazon Marketplace where you should get much more for it (if it ain't broken).
Considering you have the original 3DS I say yes, get a New 3DS XL. The larger screen alone was enough for me to upgrade to an XL. The new functions make it a better experience overall as well.

NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, WiiU, GB, GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS, Mega Drive, Game Gear, PS1, PS2, PSP, XBOX 360, Atari Lynx

I think you'd be better off spending that money buying 5 or 6 games instead.
