Forums - Nintendo - Wii USB HD dongle???

you realize most HD-TVs are capable of upscaling incoming signals.

most cheap HDtv's have crappy internal upscalers so having a decent external upscaler would yield a much better image

I would say no, and that it is a rediculous idea but look at how popular those upscaling dvd players are when people's tvsalready do it for them.

Maybe we could get Nyko to make it.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt

i'm not sure anybody would buy that. 150 dollars simply for higher resolution? thats insane. even if i had an hdtv i wouldn't pay more than about 20 bucks for something that only increases resolution. 150 dollars would have to be like some kind of add on to the wii that actually made it a much more powerful machine and somehow magically gave all the games full graphic upgrades to 360/ps3 levels. $150 would still be a very steep price to pay for a device like that.

end of '08 predictions: wii - 43 million,  360 - 25 million, ps3 - 20 million

Games I've beat recently: Super Mario Galaxy, Knights of the Old Republic, Shadow of the Collossus

Proud owner of wii, gamecube, xbox, ps2, dreamcast, n64, snes, genesis, 3DO, nes, atari, intellivision, unisonic tournament 2000, and gameboy

Gotta say no to this i came in this topic thinking it was about a HDD dongle that was announce now im dissapointed.

Perhaps some kind of pack where you get a dvd player plus an upscaler could seal the deal??

I wouldn't im having a hard time as it is trying to find a game that suits my taste for the Wii as it is.

Current Consoles: Xbox 360 Elite, Playstation 2, Gaming Rig, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3.

Xbox Live: Jessman_Aus - Playing: Ace Combat 6, Fifa 09

Playstation Network: Jessman_Aus - Playing: MGS4, Resistance 2

Wii Freind Code: 3513-9191-8534-3866 - Playing: SSBB

Brawl Code: 1590-6125-1250

Xfire: J3ssman - Playing: Fallout 3, Farcry 2

Jessman: Fears the Mangina

To be honest then, as it is possible, still a no.

mainly because of the price, but mostly due to compatibility issues with these things it is just as likely to make it look worse on a HDtv than 480p would.

That and I don't have a HDtv and am not planning to buy one within the next five years unless the current tv breaks and I can't find a nice normal TV.

no way waste of money

how about if it upscaled to 1080p?

The games are not meant to run at 720p or 1080p, just like ps2 games they would look terrible in HD even upscaled on ps3.

No need for it here, no HDTV's in house and probably not any for a few years.

You do know you are forced to purchase an HDTV, if by 2009 you have none you cant watch anything.

Not true.  You may have to buy a converterter box for over the air tv broadcasts, but most cable isn't forcing it, and converter boxes are under $80, maybe less.
